Single-vehicle accident claims man

Monday, February 18, 2013

A Lebanon man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in which alcohol was believed to have played a part. The incident occurred about 5:30 a.m., Feb. 17, near 1201 Academy Road, Lebanon.

Trooper Chad Bilbrey said in his report that Tyler B. McChurch, 29, of Lebanon, was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe SUV and was headed westbound on Academy Road when he crossed over the eastbound lane, overcorrected and went off the north side of the roadway.

The vehicle hit a concrete culvert and overturned multiple times, Bilbrey said, coming to rest on its top. Trooper Bilbrey said in his report that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. He added that McChurch was wearing his seat belt.

McChurch was a former football player at Lebanon's Friendship Christian School and at Cumberland University.

Tyler was a great guy...loved by all who knew him.
..he had just began to live life and know the joys bestowed by wife and child...couldn't ask for better family with a stronger bond and indefinite love...he will be missed by all and our prayers go out to Dan,Debbie,Mitch,Conner, his wife and son of whom he loved so much...God bless you all and we'll keep you uplifted in our prayers.

While I do feel for this young man and his family, the fact that the trooper's report indicated alcohol "was a contributing factor" should not be ignored.

I am truly sorry that Mr. McChurch is no longer on this earth and feel deeply for his wife and young child (even though I never knew him), but I am grateful his decision to get behind the wheel did not claim the life of anyone I know and love.

I tried to be respectful, Nunya, but truthful. I guess MADD and SADD offend others every hour, every day.

I am sorry for the loss of Tyler. I know his family well and they are good people. As for judging him, Jefferson, the facts aren't in so any judgment is premature. Let his family grieve the loss of their child and brother in peace, respectfully.

"Get over it" ---go screw yourself. You are heartless and people being so shallow, like yourself, is actually what is wrong with this country. And Jefferson, I think it would have been a bit more fair to take into consideration that while the report stated that alcohol was a contributing factor, itndid not say that he was driving drunk. Technically, you could have one beer and if the officers smell that one beer, then alcohol is a contributing factor to an accident. Until it is proven that he was above the legal limit and knowing the facts I would say he was not but probably dozed off in all actuality...then it was unfair and unjust to assume he was driving drunk. All that should be considered at this point is ever snide remark that is posted is being made towards a man who can not defend himself (which makes ever insult very cowardly) and therefore is complete disrespect to both of his parents, his brothers, his little boy, his wife and every person that is grieving his loss right now. Perhaps we should spend more time and energy worrying about ourselves than convicting someone else. Just some food for thought...

I'm Tyler's younger brother, I'd love to get together with you "getoverit" and maybe we'll see if you'd like to share your thought when you don't have a way to hide your identity. mmcchurch14@gmail.com

to Mr. Randy and Getoverit

I hope you won't feel to bad when I tell you that there was retraction posted in the Lebanon Newspaper in March of 2014, the officer did not report that alcohol was a contributing factor, it was not on the accident report which is public record. So when ever you wish to meet my son Mitch, I would be happy to take his place. Big a long time since I kick someone butt.
