Hooray for common sense. Pitting property owners against each other for meager tax breaks is a common socialist approach. The Greenie Reds are squealing like a squashed mouse. If they really cared about the environment (and not about locking up all resources) then they wouldn't mind giving a tax break to anyone who plants a tree, BUT that's not what they want. It's about CONTROL.....

Agreed. I would rather my tax dollars help bail out the strip-mall developers, then I can plot the O'Reilly-inspired fascist revolution with a beautiful view of Wal-Mart and Red Lobster, the folks who really need my support, not those pinko small farmers...

Whoa,....hold your horses... citizens of Mount Joy township. Please get out to the meetings this week. Why is there a change to the Rec Board meeting in time and date from Dec.1st to this TUESDAY, Nov. 17th at 6PM? What is the agenda? Letís stop or table all these greenway plans and stuff which are not well thought out nor desired by many. What happened to the revision promised and citizensí inputs asking for changes? Also, please, citizens get to the Supervisor meeting on THURSDAY Nov. 19th at 7:30pm - a budget meeting. Why do we want to not slow down and seek fiscal responsibility and common sense as regarding the budget for 2010? Why borrow $500K or $2M more for now or in this economy? This will put us in more debt and longer over time let alone raise taxes in the long run. At the last monthís meeting, the supervisors said we will always be in debt as a township. WHAT? Well, the 2010 budget will ensure such nonsense. Stop this now! Attend the meetings this week and in December. Why donít WE pay on the principal of the current debt loans which the supervisors have gotten us in already? Why mortgage our neighborsí and childrenís futures, just because we can? What? With TWO land preservation programs in the Adams County area already, this THIRD program is unnecessary(a special interest) and seems unwise in the current economy. This ainít - 2005 nor 2008! Balance the budget now and spend with wise stewardship. Why plan on spending and putting off payoff to 2023 and 2026? Why tell us we need to raise taxes indefinitely till then? At least, let's pay as we get & go for our programs. Duh? A balanced budget with actual income not on borrowed moneys. Enough already.

You don't want to reserve farmland?

So...you all would rather have development, more houses, neighborhoods, traffic and the increased taxes, public sewer, etc that will follow.

You want the filed turned into pavement? And you're not willing to pay $12 a month top preserve the rural character of your township?
