Beware of people who recently move into the area and want to instantly make changes. Wonder why they moved here in the first place. Get ready for Frederick-like housing developements and strip malls Mt Joy.

Beware of people who say "Beware of people!" That lady at the meeting last night said that Rec Plan was prepared by people from York and Gettysburg. What's with that? They want us to change the entire structure of the township with Parks & Paths in ten years so that everyone else can come to Mount Joy & use them from other towns & cities. Do you want that & Can you afford that? At least the people who voted the board in LIVE here. Give the new people time to do their jobs. You're right...that was "nuff said."

I have several questions that did not seem to have answers last night. Why when they are claiming to be more open was there no draft minutes or treasures reports prepared for us citizens to have? Brenda, Robin, and Tammy ALWAYS had those there for everyone. Is this transperant?
There is no requirement for incoming supervisors to have full roam of the municipality prior to their start date. So why are they bawling about nobody helping them? The fact of the matter once again is they are sneaking around behind everyones backs.
Where was the Chairman of the board? I understand he is in the hospital. I do wish him a speedy recovery. I do not wish any of them harm. But if he is so stressed now, does that mean his seat will be vacant by a resignation and needing to be filled next?
Lastly, Tim did they provide you with the salery AND total number of hours worked by Behnke? working 50+ hours a week cannot be saving all that much money unless they are paying her what she is actuall worth. She is only carrying out part of her job duties. For someone who was capable of taking the spots of 2 people, why is she not doing all of the job, and only working 40 hours a week?

FINALLY Mount Joy is in good hands! Mr. Honeycutt said it best, "the people have spoken, they voted these men in now let them do their job".
The few who still want to linger in the "good ole boys era" need to get over it and move on. And to those who resigned from Sam to Bill and Committee members - that was your choice. No one forced you to step down. All I can say is your service must have been more for yourself then the township.
What a legacy the 4 members of the old board left - not one of them Mr. Waybright, Scott, Dayhoff and Chantelau did anything to help with the transition, they never congratulated the two new members and would not communicate with them at all. They sound more like babies then men, grow up guys and move on.
To the new board, all 4 of you - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! And God bless you as you govern Mount Joy Township.

Confused you failed to say that all the reports and financial statements were on the bulletin board in the back of the room. I for one went up and read them.
You are nitpicking with Vicki, get over it. Brenda and Robin are gone!!! Waybright, Scott, Dayhoff and Chantelau are gone - get over it.
And your justification of the conduct of the old board members in the transition is ridiculous. I would hope that anyone who is taking on a position would take the time to find out about things before hand and not wait until the day of the first meeting.
Do you want Mount Joy's government to fail? I sure don't and for the first time in years feel good about my township. Now the people's wishes can be heard and carried out.

You get rid of a board of "good Ol boys" that wanted to preserve the agricultural look and feel of the township. Now you have a board of "good ol boys" that SAY they want open government and want to get rid of the preservation efforts. So far they have done most of their business behind closed doors. What do you think will come next...that's right...HOUSING DEVELOPEMENTS AND STRIP MALLS.
If you like housing developements and strip malls I'm sure there are a lot of homes available in the Baltimore or Frederick area.

It is just a change from one good old boys network to another. How can having someone work 50+ save money. She has to be paid overtime for anything over 40 or comptime in the amount of one and one half hours for each hour over 40. If she cannot get the work done in 50, how will she ever be able to take the com time. Watch out, Be on guard and by the way, how much an hour is she making. The paper filed a freedom of information request and I have not seen it being fulfilled as required by state law within 5 days of the request. Maybe someone should be in contact with the RTK office in Harrisburg.
Well good luck to all in Mt. Joy. Rick Klein and other developers should be very happy.

Golly, You must be sitting in a car or across the street watching her to know how much time she's putting in!! Do you see her time card? The solicitor & Victoria spoke about the RTK laws and it was discussed at the meeting. Did you not hear or weren't you there? Why are people beating up on Victoria? If she didn't accept that position, with this economy, I can only guess that there would have been someone else happy to have a job. As long as it's one of your friends though, it wouldn't have mattered. Get over it!

I wonder who Resident is related too. The right to know law is very complex and I do not believe your new solicitor is quite familiar with it yet and obviously the new secretary would know nothing about it. You know when people reject the truth it is hard to believe anything that follows. What does she make? How many hours does she work? It was in the news article about the number of hours, was the paper wrong? As far as Kline, remember what I said, I will remind you in a couple years. Things are not always as they seem. For once I would love to see the "residents" use facts to back up the changes that have taken place, not just sit back and give them a chance. With four first year people, my experience is that the residents will end up paying for many of their mistakes.

It's interesting to see how newly elected supervisers take office and dismiss long term employees. How would they like if someone came into their job and replaced them with new people for less money? That is the problem with the country today, No loyalty. They say the previous board was not tranperent but yet the new supervisers have yet to justify the new employees abilities. You may be able to replace a person for less money, but that does not mean that you have replaced the abilities of the prior employees. Mount Joy residents better hope the new supervisers think about future financial discision more then they did with terminating long term employees to save money. This is morally unacceptable unless these people were not doing their jobs.

moral? Why didn't Chantelua ,a sitting supervisor and personel comittiee member tell the new guys about sams new job? Didn't he a moral obligation to the township? Or did they they both know before hand that they were going to abandon ship? Sounds more self serving than serving for the good!

Resident is not related to anyone in MJT nor am I a friend of anyone on either the new board or old board so I think Resident can be objective- Let those people have time to do their job.

Same old Bulls___t!! But like Art Honeycutt said, The Voters spoke,,The Taxpayers voted,, They voted James Waybright and George Scott out!!, That was definately a plus for our township!! When Sam Dayhoff And Bill Chantelau, refused to work with the newly elected supervisors that was a minus. But when they resigned from office thats was definately another plus!! As far as Ag preservation, I'm all for it, but I'm not for giving some rich horse farmer that moved up here from the city to retire alot of money to preserve thier pasture when they already have lots of money in the bank and would'nt develope thier land in the first place!! I would rather see a crop farmer or dairy farmer that is barely making it and considering selling his land and developing it to get out of debt and retire. I think thats what Ag Preservation was designed to do, Not fuel the rich, but to preserve our native farmland!! Again People we can go on crying in our beer on these blogs, or we can support our new supervisors. If you like living in our township, as i do,, then support these guys ,give them a chance,, everyones not perfect, but i think this election was for the betterment of Mt JOY Township!!!!!

And by the way,,, any elected official that remains in office too long can develope ties with the wrong people, thus giving them the temptation of bribes and money therefore selling out the people for thier own benefit!! Why would a supervisor on an $1800.00 a year salary that lost the primary want to change parties just so he could run again after 12 years in office???? Seems like thier may have been something a little fishy going on!!! I you can bet all 4 of them were in on it!!, Good Luck to the New Guys!! and if the new guys don't work for the betterment of MT.Joy Township, The we'll vote thier butts out too!!!

Do you want Mount Joy's government to fail? I sure don't and for the first time in years feel good about my township. Now the people's wishes can be heard and carried out.
Actually, did not fail to mention that. With 80+ people packed into a small room which had standing room only and many having to stand out in the lobby area, They were not easy accessable. If they are so set on not being secrative, give everyone their own copy. If you or others do not want a paper copy, then suit yourself and read it off the board.
My justification on the treatment of the new board.......why did they not show they were supposedly the bigger person and show that they were able to be open and honest with their wishes and instead of being secretive and acting behind everyone's back. When they would be in the office they sure did not treat anyone with respect or try to be nice. I stood at the counter speaking with the zoning officer while Gormont criticized everything that the office assistant and treasurer did. He can do it all better is what he told them.
As far as criticizing behnke. She should have known what she was getting herself into when she took a job without everyone on the board making the decision. The decision was made by people not even in office yet. She was qualified to take both positions. So do both positions. She is not doing a quarter of their jobs, has messed up paychecks, and knows nothing about municipality issues. and on top of all that she has to work more than 40 hours a week to getting paid time and a half. Way to go on the decision making.
you finally feeling good about where you reside. That statement is absolutely pathetic. Mount Joy Township had been a place that many municipalities envied because of their progressive takes on things. It is an absolutely beautiful and open place to live. Peaceful, and safe for my children. The roads were maintained, and safe to drive in bad weather. Waybright, Scott, Chantelau, and Dayhoff also made sure that the Outlets that brought traffic and new issues to the Township, paid fo all upkeeps and traffic light that were needed to sustain their business. Developements that want to come into the Township, they were encouraged to do so, with some of the highest fees in the area. This stopped developement from happening in many cases. You cannot stop developement from happening completely, but those 4 sure did slow it down.
But of course you were not proud of living here until now. Hope you enjoy the developement, and "financial" stability they you think will be so great. Hats off to ignorance and lack of respect for the open spaces and beauty that is here for now anyways.

It can be proven as to where James Waybright resided. He actually does reside with his wife in Mount Joy Township. Maybe some of the other houses you refer to are maybe a son or his father.........DUHHHHHHH.
Oh wait maybe you were actually asking about Updyke. I will answer that for you also. His race propaganda, stated he was happily married to his wife Leslie. But yet Leslie and his family reside.........drum roll please........not in Mount Joy Township. Updyke claims to reside with his Mommy. But yet his coworkers when asked have said he lives with his wife and children. HMMMMMMMMM. A Mount Joy Township Supervisor who does not reside inthe Township. How legal is this? Oh that won't matter because now we have a Supervisor sitting at the table who is a lawyer. Just not in the state of PA.
