VINELAND — Police have charged a former RK Chevrolet manager with bilking the car dealer out of more than $20,000 in car parts since the fall.
The investigation was initiated by Vineland Police Det. Ron Demarchi on May 13 when management personnel from the North Delsea Drive auto dealership came forward with the theft allegation, Det. Lt. Thomas Ulrich said.
An audit turned up the misappropriation of funds by the parts manager, Ulrich said.
It is alleged that 31-year-old Robert Hausman would order parts and, when the transaction involved a cash sale, he would divert the cash for his own use and generate a false invoice.
It is believed Hausman, a Mount Laurel resident, ran the scam between fall 2009 and May, bilking RK Chevrolet out of $24,000.
