Watch how this Committee dances to the tune of their former counterpart who lives across the street from this proposed project! They cut public safety to the bone and are running a bare bones (according to their money guy) budget that will result in a tax increase to offset fees to fight this project. They will suddenly "find" money to pay the legal fees as they dance to their "Minstrel" tune.
Stay tuned Lumbertonians!

Giving these people a free home will not solve their homeless agenda and desire to be lazy. If there is a mandatory required training program they have to take part in for them to get the housing, then fine. But I would also like to see specific date requirements when their employment is mandatory or else, no more FREE housing. It used to be that when a man didn't work, he didn't eat. That's pretty good incentive.
Keep it out

No one in Lumberton wants this Homeless shelter! Put it in Mount Holly where there is actual homeless people roaming the streets. The old military site is certainly an eye sore, but this homeless shelter does not belong in our town!! Keep it out!

Hey Fool,
There are no "counterparts" across the street from this location. Everything you said after that is complete fabricated BS and proof that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about or how small government works.
It is better to be silent and thought the fool then to speak and remove all doubt.

Don't worry, this homeless shelter, drug rehab, mental illness clinic is coming whether the residents of Lumberton want it or not. The county is behind along with the state senators. Lock your cars and doors up little bobby's run residents! Your lives are about to be changed forever!! Expect a lot of homes for sale near this site!!!

This is a bunch of crap. Of course the residents don't want this; we pay our taxes and these transient children will be attending the same schools our children attend- and we'll be footing the bill. I'm heading out of this town ASAP. Enablers are putting society where it is now- I've never been homeless because I've worked all my life. Give them a free ride and they'll run it dry. I know some people come into problems, I get that, but at some point you have to learn to help yourself, not depend on other people.

Ask any homeless person on the street....... How they feel about living in a 300 bed shelter??? If they had a choice, no parent wants there kid around a bunch of unknowns.. Think about it, lets be practical for a moment.
The reality is 'Shelters' are a thing of the past. Even the big cities like Camden and Newark, don't push the 'Shelter' thing anymore. The idea of homelessness has taken on a different face in theses past years. You have people homeless due to recession, foreclosures and school loans. big time layoffs.

(HUD) wants people to live on there own, House/apt/condo.
its called Rapid Rehousing or Housing First Model. They have proven
Its more taxing on the community to provide for things like Transportation, Public assistance, emergency room, food, police and fire. and It costs far more to put some one in a shelter for 24 months vs in there own house. Besides who is licensing for all of these drug rehabs, and mental health inpatient facility. Im just an outsider but I would want to know how the State feels about this project??? 300 Beds??? I thought we were trying to make a plan to end homelessness in 10 years.
