I have been looking in the area for a house to buy and Willingboro seemed very underpriced. I decided to visit the Shop rite and get a "feel" for who my new neighbors might be. The first thing that greeted me was a trash strewn parking lot. Once inside the store it was an interesting experience. The store itself seemed old and in need of remodeling, it was borderline dirty.I have never seen so many loud, disrespectable people in my life. People yelling back and forth, leaving shopping carts in the middle of the isle etc. There was one young mother with a toddler. His diaper needed changing yesterday! Then there was almost a fight at check out over a EBT card and someone thought they could by hot prepared food with it.
I have read back several months on this forum. I thought much of it was just racist rants. Not so! I have struck Willingboro from my list and will look in Delran.

Why the hell anyone would shop at that shop-rite is beyond me..........Want peaceful shopping? Go to Acme..........Shop-rite in Delran is clean and updated but way over-crowed along with rude shoppers and the worst parking lot ever invented( Hope you like door dings galore)

The lot with that Shoprite has been a common hangout for obnoxious teens and even more obnoxious "young adults" after school hours. The busier hours after 3 are not a good time to be at that Shoprite. When I was in high school, my friend would come to my house to hangout most of the time after school, because he didn't feel like even looking at the brats. He walked past the lot on his way home. Whenever he did, he'd usually mouth off about how stupid they look and get them worked up... Surprised he never got beat up lol. Still, I always thought most of the mess in that lot is from those obnoxious brats... almost a decade later and they look and act the same as the brats I went to school with.

Well you went for the over the top trifecta.
1. Baby needed changing
2. Almost a fight
3. An EBT card mention
And add in
4. Carts abandoned
5. People yelling back and forth

I shop at Costco but I do go in the shop-rite for a few things. Why is it all the times I'm in there not 1 of those happens but all 3 from your 1 chance encounter? Reminds me of the guy on here claiming in his one chance encounter in Willingboro there was a group of 50 youths flashing automatic weapons and blah blah blah.

"50 youths with automatic weapons"? LOL

But yeah, I drop in there 2 or 3 times a month for certain groceries, and still I've never had the kinds of issues with the shoprite that this person did... I've seen the lot get pretty messy on occasion, usually on friday after all the obnoxious teens I've mentioned were done hanging around... and the fights aren't a common sight there either... occasionally someone might act a bit testy, but I've seen that kind of behavior everywhere. Every place that offers customer service gets a "difficult" customer every now and then.

The owner of that store probably can't afford to remodel it. Too much theft!

Surprisingly there isn't nearly as much theft happening in that store as you'd think... And while remodeling would be nice, all the place really needs is weekend-long cleaning overhaul... Some bleach, a good wax and polish and fresh paint can go a long way... My friend worked there part-time back in high school, and she said that there wasn't much done for upkeep. They kept the stock properly and made sure not to keep products past the expiration dates and employees would at least attempt to keep the displays presentable... and the places where they handled meats and such was kept clean and sterile... but any other cleaning was done rarely. She couldn't even stand to use the employee bathroom some days. She'd usually just hold it until her shift was over and go at home. XD Mind you she hasn't worked there since high school and that was almost 6 years ago... It doesn't seem to have changed, but I don't know the full insider view anymore.

Simple shoplifting isn't juicy enough to make any news article... there has to be some kind of flare to it... Some grand incident, or huge set of incidents within a finite time frame for people to gossip over. Although I would think theft and shoplifting so prevalent that it's actually affecting profits in extreme ways would be at least somewhat noteworthy. there should be an article or statement somewhere out there if this is the case.

I've been reading these posts recently on willingboro, due to me looking for a home within the next two years. The racism on here amazes me. I have two great friends both white that grew up in willingboro and neither have had any problems. I'm white and grew up In pennsauken. I've been told my hometown has been trash ever since I was born. Mostly from the ch, haddonfield, moorestown people. Since the economy sucks and I cant afford to buy in most of the towns around me other than camden, pennsauken, willingboro, or gloucester, I feel my options are limited. Willingboro as far as I know is no worse than pennsauken, and I wouldn't be taking opinions on the town based off people from the above towns I mentioned, or some crazy south jersey hick that left and moved to Florida. I find the good in people everywhere I go. Except Boston, I've lived there for the past 5 years and everybody hates everybody. Thats why I decided to move back home.

Well if you do decide to move out here to Willingboro, it's not too different from Pennsauken. We have our ups and downs like most towns. Have you been doing your research on the town? It's separated into parks. Milbrook, Windsor and Country Club Parks are rather quiet and comfortable. Actually Windsor and Country Club has had the reputation that mainly old retired couples and relatively more well off people live there, but there's still plenty of kids and activity. Someone is always throwing a cookout for some occasion in CC. Windsor and CC are the closest to Millcreek Park if you like taking walks through woods and around parks like that. Lots of deer appear once in a while though, in case you have a dog, so watch out. Also there is a public pool in Country Club Park that opens during the summer, as well as a golf course. Penny Packer Park has lots of kids, if you're bringing family with you, as do Garfield, Garfield North, and Garfield East Parks. Penny Packer Pool is currently open on the weekends. The street lights in some parts of the Garfield parks are spaced much further apart than others , so it get's pretty dark for a lovely view of the stars, assuming the weather allows, especially if you're a bit deeper into the park and away from the main roads. so if you decide on a house there, make sure you can get onto you're roof and stare for hours, it's fun. Buckingham has always held a bit of a reputation as one of the trashier and more ratchet parks in town, but there are still a few great and fun people living there. Hawthorne Park has a similar reputation. In general, if there's a major issue in town, it either happens in, or involves at least one person from, those 2 parks... oh and Somerset Park sometimes too.Twin Hills is nice too, and has a small park/ playground of its own. The townhouses in Rittenhouse are pretty decent, and some of them are up for rent. Finally there's Deer Park, a small park, more of a cul-de-sac. Sorry I don't know much about it, aside from the houses there looking nice. You rarely hear anything about anything happening there. I had one friend who lived there briefly, when her family moved there senior year of high school. She said it felt kinda cut off from the rest of the town, even though it's practically in the middle of it. Who knows, that might be a good thing.

But I've rambled enough, you can find out most of these things for yourself just by doing your research. Good luck on the house search!
