It's sad to see our wonderful police chief David Belk retiring. A man who has done so much for our city. A man whose door was always open for any complaint or concern. It will be hard to replace such a person.
THATS A FACT JACK

"Clueless" If you are speaking of Belk..........not being eliaible? Well your wrong..........he can retire from any police dept. when he gives 20yrs in law enforcement no matter what his age. He can only be eligible for socical security when he reaches 67. You can even be a rent a cop and belong to the law enforcement fund or a court clerk...a seceratary.....a janitor....
any one whe payes into the club..........this is where some of the monies come frome from speeding tickets-court cost....ect. Retirees, and anyone else who has worked for the court system get a cut of the court cost. This is part of your retirement for the service........I retired at 51 with a good retirement......thanks to all you people who went to court and faced a judge.....or got caught showing your stupied ass on the highway!!!!!!!!!!

You said "should retire", rather than saying "should resign". It is hard to retire when you haven't put in your 30 years, if you were referring to police employees. Since it was stated by you that some "should retire", it sounded as if there were employees there that were eligible and choose not to, versus those that aren't eligible, but should leave anyway. If that is what you were trying to say, well, you should have said "should resign". BIG difference. Keep trying, and one day you might actually get your point across.
