I don't think AYF has become as political as Pop Warner has

What happens when AYF lies to and cheats you because you want to play by your own rules?

Well first of all Pop Warner is all about the MONEY.... They will tell you there all about the kids. Have a team make it to Disney and you will find out.$500 a kid and you haven't even bought the first hamburger. Times that by 30 kids and 5 coaches. WOW.... Pop Warner is a joke. They have all these kids raise 100's of thousands of dollars and then its just to keep the lights on at Disney. My nephew plays for UR and they do there best to raise money all year. In my opinion its just a money racket.

I feel he will play for AYF next year. This was his first year with Pop Warner.

Yeah, Ayf may be cheaper but football wise it really sux! I mean the only good thing about it are the weights. The competition is sub par, there regionals and national competitions are unorganized and cheering competition at there nationals is just an exhibition. Mount holly would be better off going to the NYFL.

Pop Warner is a racket. It's a corrupt money making machine that IMO is exploiting the parents and kids. When I was a kid we didn't have to fork over hundreds of dollars just to play and then additional money just to watch our kids play.

True, True but AYF is soooooooo unorganized from local to national level that its hard to look at them as being "greener pastures". For real if you had PW comp at AYF prices that would be perfect. NYFL is trying to do that

We are considering a move from PW to an AYF-affiliated program. We are looking to hear from both sides. We have heard the "Pros" about moving already, but we are looking for some input on the
"Cons" of moving. I'm hearin ghtat less organizatoin is one issue. Any major issues? Input is greatley appreciated.

Pop Warner is truely the best organization but it is all about the money. AYF is great for a variety of kids based on their weight. Witch is probably better for kids going onto Middle and High school ball due to the fact you can not control who you face on these levels. But football players that play high school ball will play at any size and age because they want to. So which is better? Each parent must figure that out for their child. As a organization Belmont likes PW due to the structure and long history of being accountable. Just my opinion.
Are you serious

It's no way in the world that Pop Warner can compete with AYF (actually SWAYF) in this area. Yes it was a little unorganized this year but that comes with a growing league. Pop warner is starting to become more of a business, rather then cater to the kids.

But to answer your question; it depends on what your looking for; if you have a child that has dreams of playing high school or college ball, bring them to AYF. It will better prepare them for the next level. AYF is unlimited weight. I'm not saying Pop Warner players can't compete at the next level (because they can) but AYF better prepare kids; I coached in both leagues. For example my son played Pop Warner in Charlotte in 2007 and he was the best player on his team but because he weighed a couple pounds over the requirement he was forced to play on the line; but I switched him to AYF or SWAYF in 2008 and he played at his right position. He is in the sixth grade now and he will be playing middle school ball this year, so just think if I would have kept him in pop warner and he tried to play next year, he wouldn't be ready.

So you are saying that one year in AYF made him better for school ball? Well My kid played PW and when he made the transition to school ball there wasnt a drop off at all and he plays DE. Has always played on the d-line ans was the 2nd leading tackler and tied for the most sacks this past season at his school. I wouldnt say PW keep him from being prepared, and not where they play but how..........By the way look for alot of kids to leave charlotte PW. They announced at there meeting that they wont be competing in regional nor national play anymore. AYF will be taking Charlotte over real soon, and GG(mount holly, stanley, and belmont) may see alot of kids from the QC at there registration this season! Look out

I thought you were changing your name to the Coulwood Hawks anyway. No thats right they all aged out last year. Time to start recruiting again. And you guys say everyone else cheats. Back to Mt Joke again.

What are you talking about cheat? Recruit? If you're talking about the players from the Pee Wee team, as far as I know, they all LIVE in Mt. Holly. Any way, other than those players, every team in Mt. Holly had players that consisted almost SOLELY children from Mt. Holly. None of the coaches in our organization actively go out and recruit players into Mt. Holly. NONE.

It's also funny that, until very recently, Coulwood was a joke and an easy win for anyone who played them. It's only been the past couple of years that they've become good. Does that mean that you guys started recruiting?

Better check your facts again about your PW team and just how did all those kids from Coulwood wind up in Mt Holly if no one went after them or offered them a place to play.
