Agree with your sister in law. This place would survive in Belmont, not in Mount Holly, regardless of the Town of Mount HOlly Tax Payers subsidizing the place.
Sorry Mount Holly is a starter home town, so you need starter home restaurants.
Thanks Bryan Hough....
Have to agree, Tommy B.

Too late, they screwed up downtown, and spent all of our money on the citizens center, plus they allowed every development in MH to be starter home, cookie cutter homes.....

If Mount Holly had the Stowe's and Pharr's backing them, they would be like Belmont, also the merchants give to keep thing going downtown, not like Mount Holly merchants, all they want to do is take and not give back---just fill their pockets with tax payer money, and give notheing in return. All you have in Mount Holly is a bunch of greedy SOB merchants!

I believe one difference in Belmont and Mount Holly is that Belmont spent one million dollars to redo its downtown, Mount Holly spent over 2 million and put in granite curbing, added flower beds that would have to be kept up by RDS Landscaping, put in street lights that don't do the job, had a piss poor design, remember the flooding last year?

Basically it comes down to who was leading Belmont and who is leading Mount Holly. Bryan Hough, Bob Suttenfied, who by the way is on the committee with Scott Griffin to push these greenways down our throats and give his RDS Landscaping business more of our tax money.

Hough makes money off the tax payer by selling his employee benefits packages to the city.
Suttenfield makes money from RDS doing its deeds to the tax payer for services we don't need or could have done by our city workers.

$15,000 in tax dollars to a place that only stays open 24 hours a week. Maybe we the owner wasnt crazy he would have more bussiness. Looks like the eden group needs to take their tax money stealing ass back to belmont. Caravan needs to go with them because he said he would have 2 full time 4 part time employies for the $13,000 he got. I bet he doesnt have thatmany customers a day.
Anybody have an idea on what type of restaurant will be opening in the place of backwoods?

First I heard Simonetti's would be coming in, thought that might have a chance to make it in Mount Holly. They are making it in Belmont.

Now I have heard that something place similar as backwoods is coming. Looked in the windows today and it seems the same crappy decorations that backwoods used is still up.

Thanks for the info.

Taking into consideration that Mount Holly is a very small town in the Gaston County area, and then you have Stanley right up the road with brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles...all co-habitating, intermingling...whatever. Why in this age of market "Branding" would a sensible, intelligent new entrepreneur call his dining establishment "BACKWOODS" Restaurant in the first place.
As a Market Research Analyst, I promise you that names are essential in the rise and fall of any new enterprise.
Even on a biblical level, God would change a person's name in a Canaanite Minute if he intended to use that person for something else.

This place started out gangbusters. Lots of food that tasted good and service that was not to bad. That was my first visit. Second visit still good food and lots of it but the service was less than fair. Third visit was with three other people and they got it right. Good to fair service and the food was still better than average so for good food and more than enough to eat we can live with it. But, our last visit was not that great. Service was better but I had to send my first plate back because of a bad tasteing meat. The Avacoto Dip was oily or wattery and not up to standard. The wife asked for butter for her bread and they brought her some type of oil. She was told that that was the only type of butter they had. Such a wrong answer. We are going to give tham a couple weeks then go back again to see if one they are still open and two they have their act together. And, yes we will ask for butter to put on the bread and hope we don't get oil again. We were so pleased when they first opened and the food was so good it is a shame that what ever happened to them happened. I only hope they can correct the problems and not close. I wish them well.
Should have stayed in Dallas.
