Hey does nayone know info about the mt holly swim club? I found a phone number and called but it just rings and rings...

I called the parks and rec dept and they said the city doesn't run a pool but the mt holly swim and racket club is a private club.

So- trying to see how much to join and other info on it.
Thanks!

I finally got a hold of someone on the phone. They said $200 application fee,$400 dues per year and since we'd be "late"- a $25 late fee... screw that! I was thinking it would be like $100 for a family... haha... Carowinds is looking better and better!

How much does it cost to run the pool annually? Insurance, Life Guards, Pool Supplies, Maintenance, Utilities.

How do you know it's overpriced if you don't know what it cost?

It doesn't matter what it costs them for us to say its overpriced... Its the opinion of the public who would be their potential customers who get to give that opinion. It's percieved value! And it may be a bargin for some depends on what their budget is for such frivolity.

Maybe in a few years to me it will seem like a steal! but as for now... its overpriced to waht use I would partake.

The MH pool used to be pretty good. Haven't been in years. It was used by some as a day care center in the summer as I recall. Not sure if they still have a swim team? I think it need lots of repairs which may be the reason for the increased fees, but with the recession I would guess some have dropped out..

I looked at other swim clubs and what they had to offer and the mh one does not compare at all! theres a swim club in charlotte that costs 575 and has a better and bigger pool, more courts (that are lighted!) a nice club house, plus activites, swim meets, etc... I won't join that one only because its in Charlotte and too far to drive... but based on what I have seen of other swim clubs, MH's should not charge what it does!

Sounds like someone just wants to complain...it's too much, it's too far, they don't offer enough, they offer a lot but expect you to pay for it, it's not in Mount Hollyhood.
Walmart sells nice blow up pools.

Honestly, it is what it is. If you can't afford it or just don't want to pay that much don't join. There are fees for just about everything...some we may think is a good deal, others we won't. That's why we are given an option. There are plenty of other places you can go swim..why not try the Y? And I think Coulwood Swim Club has gotten quite inexpensive from what someone told me awhile back. You do have options other than Mt. Holly Swim Club.

Also, I noticed someone posted something about swim meets...MH does have a swim team and hold swim meets. Our first one was last night. While my family are not members of the pool our daughter does swim on the team as did I growing up. It is a lot of fun!

I've never heard of a swim club that allows "non-members" to participate on the swim team?!? Sort of defeats the purpose and slights those paying the big bucks to be "members". Sounds like to me your daughter is reaping the traditional member benefits, while others are paying full price dues.

So how much does it cost just to be on the swim team?

How would my child be reaping the benefits? I pay for her to be on the team. She is on the swim team only...it lasts a month and I pay for that as do many other parents. She doesn't get to swim freely at the pool or anything...only for practice an hour one night a week and for the meets. Again, I am paying for that. You don't have to be a member of many pools in order to swim on the swim team. It's two separate things entirely. When you pay to be a member of a pool you are paying for free access to the pool during pool hours...not for the swim team. In fact if I am not mistaken it costs an additional fee in order to be on the team even if you are a member of the pool...please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that's the way it works.

Got information on pricing for Stanley Swim Club and it's on the high side. Paper lists $360.00 membership, $300.00 fee/yr and $50.00 babysitter fee but sitter can't come if member is present. If you break it down over the swim months it costs about $220/mth to swim.
