Loved...Loved......Loved the article in the Gazette yesterday.
9 million dollars for 12 miles. That is like 750,000.00 per mile of taxpayer money, for a train that has NO where to go ! I can not believe that Gaston county commisioners, the state of NC, dept. of transportation and anyone else involved thought it was a great idea. Why would anyone think that you would load ethanol on a train tanker car in Ranlo take it 12 miles or less and put it on a truck. That is kind of like the goverment. Lets spend twice as much to move a load of ethanol. No biofuels company is that stupid. There was NEVER going to be a contract for that and they knew it all the time. I have never seen one thing being moved up and down that 9 million dollar track. Several times they have driven the engine up and down the track but that has been it. I am at home all day. If the engine comes by you know it. What a waste. Just money going into some fat cats pockets. We need to see an accounting of where the money went to and how many local jobs was created. Kept seeing out of state trucks parked in different places up and down the million dollar track doing damamge to parking lots where they would leave their equipment without permission. MOST people are scared to ask or make any noise about anything because it is not politically correct. That is why our goverment from the bottom to the top is so corrupt and that includes, gaston county officals and Mt. Holly and any other town that was involved in this insane waste of your money. But they will continue to do so as long as they never have to be accountable to anyone.

That is why our country is in mess, look at the city of Mount Holly using GRANTS to fix up the River Street Park neighborhood where the crack heads have ruined the houses, look at the city of Mount Holly using GRANTS for downtown businesses, this is not FREE money, it has to be paid for by the taxpayers. Yes, the patriot train was a bad idea and someone should be held accountable.

You are exactly right. But the majority of the people are scared to say anything. The money seems to be free to some while some have to work even harder for them to get the handouts ! FRAUD is the word.

Random thoughts:

1. It's helpful when you comment on an article to include a link to the article:

2. This is indeed a waste of tax payers money. Someone should really be held accountable.

3. When politicians vote to spend funds, they don't have a whole lot of insight as to what the final product will be for every last dollar.

4. If this money hadn't been spent here in North Carolina, it would have been spent on some other project somewhere else.

5. It's no wonder that more Federal money gets spent in Blue states rather than Red states, as the people in Blue states don't complain about it.

That's a waste but still peanuts compared to what roads cost. To add a little perspective - Charlotte is spending over $20 million to add a median and turn lanes to about 5 miles of Rea Rd. And for adding another lane to North I-77 they're talking hundreds of millions. Apparently NCDoT is at about $5 billion per year right now. Is it just me or has this stuff gotten out of hand?

This "Patriot Rail" is a gross display of up your ass Americans by our government. You should see their little trailer station they have set up in Lowell trying to look like it is an actual working profiting railroad.Well we've have obviously been railroaded by the engineers of the phrase itself.Glad everyone agrees to not agree with this charade. It is flat out criminal what has gone on and will go on.Probably the local federal dope supply.Enjoy the game.
