Could someone please ask our new mayor and his wife to adhere to the speed limit in Deerfield. I have small children out there on bikes and in our yard, like you should be able to do in a neighborhood, and I have passed them both this week in a blur of speed. At least 50 mph in a 20 mph zone! Better yet Mr. Mayor, how about speed bumps in our neighborhood? I'm not saying that you won't be a good mayor, I hope you are, but if you lead by example we are going to need some chekered flags and ambulance on stand by!

Our city will not pay for any neighborhood to have speed bumps. I suggest you say something to him about his speeding.

If you live in the same hood wouldn't it be easier to approach him one on one rather than get on here and complain about it? That would probably be faster than asking someone else to ask him and then they have to find you and tell you what he said. Then, if you don't like the response, you have to tell whoever found him to find him again and tell him you didn't like the response. We had the same problem in our hood and it was a county cop. We spoke directly to him at a home owners meeting and everything is good now.

I agree. He and our police captain Officer Benfield and his wife are the four fastest bullets in the neighborhood. What do you do when these are the ones that are supposed to be making the rest of us follow the law?

I guess you may be right. We don't have a homeowners association in Deerfield but I could just go to his house. As far as Benfield goes, he has been spoken to and it just continues. He son is almost the worst when he is home from college. Another that is terrible to speed by our corner is the Corrall boy in the red truck. Someone is going to get hurt out there and then I guess something will be done.

In my neighborhood, we scream slow down at the car and it works because we all do it! If that doesn't work, try throwing eggs.

If anyone ever stopped for the STOP SIGNS, the speeding would not be as bad. If the city needs a revenue stream, have the cops sit in the hood and write tickets for everyone running the stop signs.
City could write off thet Whitewater debt pretty quick. |

It's unfortunate that North Carolina law does not allow for a citizen's arrest. Ironically, we are one of the few states that do not allow this.
