To THINK that they needed to change the name to ACCOMODATE outsiders joining the Belmont Chamber is FLAWED thinking. They are joining for ONE reason, to NETWORK with BELMONT people and sell their goods or services.
They are NOT joining out a lack of having their own local chambers in their OWN towns! Let's see, I sell copiers and live in Belmont but I've exploited my contacts in Belmont so I decide to also join the Charlotte Chamber to make more contacts, seems logical to me. So, do you think Charlotte has people doing that? Do you see them changing the name of the Charlotte Chamber to the Greater Piedmont Chamber, NO! Why it IS silly! Not only is it silly, but it defeats the WHOLE purpose of why these folks joined in the first place and more importantly disenfranchacises long time Belmont Chamber members who are proud to be from BELMONT (NOT MONTCROSS!) WAKE UP CHAMBER FOLKS AND CHANGE THE NAME BACK BEFORE YOU START TO LOSE BOTH NEW AND OLD MEMBERS! |

Ever watched the Britcom "Keeping Up Appearances"? They remind me of Hyacinth Bucket.

1 I'm not from around here so I find the rivalry between Belmont and Mt. Holly very childish and silly. Not sure if this was part of the reason for the change but if these two towns would get over themselves then they could really have a major impact on what happens across the whole county. You know, I'm just sayin'. |

1 We also have a Gaston Chamber with is for all of Gaston County. Not every town has to have it's own Chamber, but we also don't have to duplicate the GC. |

1 Belmont is clearly better. Mt. Holly should follow our example, but they think they know everything. Belmont people are intelligent with class, Mt. Holly people are just a bunch of hicks. ...at least thats what the Cramerton people say.:P |

Thank you for making my point. This whole area will never become anything classy and will always be Charlott's Ugly Stepsister. Oh, you'll get to go to the ball, but you'll stand by and watch the real class dance. Cramerton included. |

1 Don't get your panties in a wad. I was just being sarcastic. I have family in Mt Holly, and I was going to move there at one time. ...being from NB I can say without a doubt, we are better than EB people. Although EB did have a better pool hall, we had Northside. Actually I would rather have NB as part of Mt Holly. They might get better representation in local government than I think they do from Belmont. I consider the Abbey land as a good barrier between the two. Gotta keep'm separated. |

Anyone remember this classic KUA's episode? If you've never seen it, it does capture the essence of some of the "goings on" in and around Belmont -
http://www.youtube.com/watch... A great show to DVR on PBS! |

2 Meanwhile, Daisy found herself a toyboy over in Browntown and they cruised the bowling alley parking lot while Rose was searching for "Mr. Right" over on Hawley Ave. I hear Violet and Bruce have moved to Stanley so they can have their swimming pool, sauna, and room for a pony. Richard was going to take early retirement from finance and general purposes, but the election of the new mayor/vicar prompted him to remain. Elizabeth will be walking over from Central Ave to help Hyacinth with her candlelight suppers - which will be attended by the Cromlishes, the Stowes, and Lavecchias, of course! |
