Person B makes an attack on person A.
Therefore A's claim is false.
The lot of you may not like Robert, but attacking him personally rather than refuting his ideas, is a logic error identified by the Greeks thousands of years ago.
I learned about it in the 5th grade.
So what grade are you in now Malcolm?

Because Mr. Stowe, educating America should be one of the top priorities for our country...now and for our future. Pell grants and low interest student loans are essential to making that happen. The vast majority of students do not have the means available to them to fully pay for their education (much less the private school education you received) and would not have the opportunity to go to college without this type of funding.
I couldn't let this one go. I consider my family lower middle class. Our son just started college this year. Guess who is going to be paying for this the next 20 years. Mr Obama and the Dems sure didn't try and help. I guess because my wife and I have a job we don't qualify for squat! Take a look at some of the qualifications for these grants, scholarships etc. and see what it takes to get this "free" money. I should be more understanding I guess. I mean there are people out there who have to get in their nice cars, talk on their obamaphones(I'm paying for), drive to the grocery store and use their food stamps (I'm paying for) to buy food, beer and cigarettes.

My father started a small business in our basement 35 years or so ago and grew it into a profitable business. Guess how many grants and handouts he got. I'll save you the trouble, ZERO. He worked many a year scraping by just enough to get us by and keep the business afloat.

I guess us working people shouldn't complain. I mean a job just fell into our laps. Our parents or us got a job and paid for job training/college ourselves. We didn't work shitty dead end jobs to save money to better ourselves. We started at the top, right? We should subsidize everything we can because some people just don't want to work for their money and by God this is America we should have to do anything we don't want to! So if you don't have the drive to get a job surly after we give you food, cell phones, free education, free housing and free health care it'll give you the self confidence and drive to better yourself at some point. I mean isn't that the way you would raise your children. They shouldn't have to earn a cell phone, a car, those new name brand shoes or Ipod all their friends have. We should give that to them because they're them, no other reason.

There's a HUGE difference between poor down on their luck people and people that think they're entitled to everything!

So certainly since you didn't qualify, then nobody should get a darn thing. I mean...based on this response...certainly ANYONE that qualifies must be a food stamp using, unemployed drain on society (just trying to read your mind here). Certainly there couldn't possibly be a population of hard working Americans out there that could possibly qualify if you didn't.

You know...you've changed my mind. You must be right. Wow...it's all so clear now.

That was not my intent to imply that no one deserves help. That's why I said there's a difference between being poor, had a string of unfortunate problems, etc. It just doesn't make any sense that people who work their ass off can't even get a little help to keep them from being in debt the rest of their life. I guess we have to save that money for the liberals to help the people who don't want to get off their lazy butts and get a job. Before you jump on me for saying that, I know and understand that not everybody that gets assistance is lazy. I just get sick seeing the system being abused and the politicians just want to keep throwing money at it.

I also consider myself a hard working American that doesn't think I'm entitled to everyone else's money. But why should someone that doesn't do squat for money get a free ride to college, free health care, free food etc. It just pisses me off that people who are worthless and lazy, not people who are physically unable or for whatever reason aren't able to work, milk the system of all the hardworking people's money. If this doesn't bother you I can set up an account at the bank of your choice and you can put any extra money you have in it and I'll give it to who I think deserves it.

For the record I wasn't trying to get you to agree with me. I was voicing my opinion which I thought that's what these forums were about. So the oh wait I see clearly now comment added nothing to your statements other than hey look I don't agree with you so I'll be a smart ass.

You sound like a very bitter man. I hope you don't own a gun. Noone ever gave me anything. I worked for every dime. Knowing how difficult the journey can be I help anyway I can to help others with their college education. I am proud to do it & thank God for affording me the money to make it possible.

No need for an apology. I enjoy a good back and forth. Sometimes it's hard to get your entire point across on here. I just get aggravated when people think they're entitled to government help just because and I've seen too many people who need it or will use it to better their lives and the people around them.

The unemployed and entitled crowd will vote for the Dem's to keep their subsidies coming.
The employed, hard working crowd will vote for the Rep's to keep from being taxed to death and having to pay for everyone else a free ride.

Have you ever seen poverty face to face...either in the mirror or in the face of a REAL child? No...you've read about it on the back page of the newspaper or barely listened as they've talked about it on the news. You've never experienced it firsthand or otherwise. Have you ever gone out of your way to help someone that is trying to just make it in this life? God forbid they should even dream about being able to send their kids to college.

It's easy to judge others when you've never walked in their shoes or have never gone out of your way to understand and help. The population you describe exists but it is not the majority. A lot of people live in a vicious cycle of poverty. You really think these people WANT to live in poverty?? Oh...but they're living the good life on food stamps and other forms of assistance. Man...if we could all just live in the lap of luxury like them...what a wonderful world it would be.

PLEASE enlighten us on how these people should pull themselves out of this cycle. Get a job? GREAT answer! Doing what exactly? What kind of job can they get with no education (no car...minimal clothes...maybe not enough food to eat). These are the faces of poverty...living in a vicious cycle...with no hope. And...nobody cares.

Oh...just get a job. Right.

There is something fundamentally askew here. Let me see if I have this right.
If a woman gets pregnant we should make her have the baby.
Don't expect my hard earned tax to support you. If you couldn't afford a baby you shouldn't have had it.
I give to charity. How many cans of soup & boxes of mac & cheese have I given to that Church.
I don't want two women going to City Hall & getting married, because I don't think it's right. Why should I care what they think. My opinion matters more than theirs.
I hate these gays because the Bible says I should.
It also says the poor will always be with us so be happy with the mac & cheese. Should I go on.....

“The trouble is that rich people, well-to-do people, very often don’t really know who the poor are; and that is why we can forgive them, for knowledge can only lead to love, and love to service. And so, if they are not touched by them, it’s because they do not know them”— Mother Teresa

4 simple questions that should make us think before we vote in November.
The president and his men have been hounding Gov Romney to release his tax returns for the past ten years. I say that the Gov should release his tax records but only after the president answers the four questions below. Fair deal? or should the President review third grade arithmetic?
1. Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So how can the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is "African-American" when the term wasn't even used at that time?
2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961 & Lists Barack Hussein Obama as his
father. No big deal, right ? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father
was born in " Kenya , East Africa". This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist
until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the "British East Africa Protectorate".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenya
3. On the Birth Certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital".
This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "KauiKeolani Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home," respectively. The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?
http://http/www.kapiolani.org/ women-and-children/about-us/de fault.aspx ;
Why hasn't this been discussed in the major media ?
4. Perhaps a clue comes from Obama's book on his father. He states how proud he is of his father fighting in WW II. I'm not a math genius, so I may need some help from you. Barack Obama's "birth certificate" says his father was 25 years old in 1961 when he was born. That should have put his father's date of birth approximately 1936-if my math holds (Honest! I did that without a calculator!!!) Now we need a non-revised history book-one that hasn't been altered to satisfy the author's goals-to verify that WWII was basically between 1939 and 1945. Just how many 3 year olds fight in wars? Even in the latest stages of WW II his father wouldn't have been more than 9.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see something in this that isn't disturbing?
You're dumb as dirt!!! Do something more meaningful with your time and maybe you can get off foodstamps!! Idiot...you don't sound American to me...Telling lies on America's President!!
