Tough draw for the Warriors. Reynolds by far was the best team we'd seen all year. Tremendous speed at the skill positions and very hard to wrap up and bring down. Reynolds if not this year, next year WILL be a 4A state title contender. This was a very young team with very good talent.

A lot of credit should go to Reynolds but we did not play very well and did not tackle well at all.#54 for Reynolds was the most unsportsmanlike player I have seen in many years enough to be ejected from the game. WELL DESERVED EJECTION!

Sad to see the Warriors season end this way but we fans are proud of what the players and coaches accomplished this year after the adversity of the previous two seasons. Thanks seniors and those that will return next year... work hard in the weightroom in the offseason this year because your hard work WILL pay off!!

This is the only thing that worried me with a weak conference. Yes the playoffs are in reach but what can you do once you got there. Its not EG's fault. But when you are playing Harding and West Meck and weaker teams it doesnt prepare you well for the playoffs. However, I am very proud of the warriors on a great season I hope this is a stepping stone for something good to come. Don;t get me wrong im not critizing at all. I thought the non conference schedule was great. But maybe when the opportunity arises possibly removing North Gaston for a stronger team until they are back to a competitive level wouldn't hurt. Again great year boys. The community is proud of you.

We play who we play. If we were in the NFL, we probably wouldn't have won a game.

point is eg fan the coaching is awful, yes u have some talented players, but u have to have coaching..the coaching did not get better, u just went into a conference that is not any good. CC was down this year so was Olympic. Find a coach that can work with lesser talent because that is what is coming to u in the future. good luck with the search..

I respectfully disagree. East Gaston was improved in ever phase of the game this year...I don't know how many games you saw last year vs this year. Last year we were not even competitive. This year we were in most every game. Also remember Coach Tippett had to re-build his entire staff and is just now getting the right guys in place.

As a former alum of EG and the football team, I support them 100% but I think there is a lot of problems still. I feel that there is no reason why EG couldn't compete with SP. The talent level at EG has always equaled or been greater than SP. We've had bigger, stronger, quicker, and faster people on our teams. We've even had some pretty good coaches there. I think that a big difference is that Belmont encourages their students to play sports. The whole town supports them, whether or not they have a kid in school. It is reminiscent to that of Maiden. I know when I was there, we had so many people in my graduating class that used to play football in middle school, who chose the route of drinking and drugs. They didn't want to put in the hard work. EG has developed an expectancy to fail. This is the problem not the coaches or players, at least it was when I was in school.

I agree. I think we as parents and boosters can make a big difference in the future. We must work hard to encourage our kids to play sports, stay out of trouble and continue good school work.We can make a difference if we stay true to our kids, support our booster club and school.

It is not possible to be a former alumnus. You either went to school there or you did not. The biggest problem is coaching at the middle school level and keeping the kids in football after Pop Warner. Get better coaching at the middle schools and this can be turned around. I played football at EG and the coaching was beyond bad. Adams, Keaton, Crawford that whole bunch was so bad. We need someone to stay and be supported by both Stanley and Mt. Holly along with the school faculty and admin. That is the only way to build tradition like Belmont's and Maiden's. We are beginning to show some support for the guy who is there now, we need to continue and build on that.

You hit the nail on the head. Six wins after one win the previous two seasons was a major step. I think the community needs to have realistic expectations, when Coach Tippett came in he basically had to start from scratch. He had no staff, very little talent or experience. One thing he has done, that some don't like is he has instilled disipline into our program. I really think he is there for the long hall; he is trying to do some of the things you mention above, but he can't get those things done by himself.

EGFAN, very few times will I disagree with you but I have to this time. When Tippett came in after the 06'season he had talent. He chose either to not use their talents or chose to not open the playbook up. He also had experience. Now granted he didnt have the number of seniors the 06' team had but still it wasent like there was only 2 or 3 there. He had the opportunity but a long chain of events that ocured in the offseason hurt his numbers in the experience column. And I know your response will be "we play whos on the schedule" and I agree, but...EG didnt have the strongest schedule in the state this year. Granted they won 6 games but if they had still been in the Big South, theres no way they win 6 games. The talent levels of a Forestview,Crest,Kings Mountain are more superior than Waddel Harding and West Meck. I understand they played the schedule given to them but they recieved a gift from the state. The 2 conference games that they played against teams with talent they lost. I still am a proud Alumni but I am also realistic. Theres no excuse for EG not making the playoffs as long as the playoff field is this big and they pay in that conference. Again EGFAN i hate disagreeing with you but I feel like you are wrong saying he had VERY little talent and experience. But this season is over time to prepare for next season. Good luck EG.
