Tavares will hold naming contest for water taxis

There are 28 comments on the The Orlando Sentinel story from Dec 15, 2007, titled Tavares will hold naming contest for water taxis. In it, The Orlando Sentinel reports that:

“I know that I couldn't build them for that”

The city plans to stage a contest next month to rename the refurbished water taxis that will ferry visitors across Lake Dora during special events.

The vessels figure into the city's recently announced plan to build a $7.3-million marina and seaplane basin at Wooton Park.

'I think we're going to keep it wide open and fun,' Tavares' economic development director, Bill Neron, said Friday of the contest.

The 42-foot, air-conditioned watercraft can seat 49 passengers, said Robbie Cunningham, owner of Trident Pontoons, the Tavares boat-maker that will restore the floating taxis. Read more

Robbie Cunningham with Trident Florida Trading Company in Tavares who is restoring boats for the county is a con. He ripped me off for $80,000.00. I paid him a deposit and he never built anything. He has ripped off others including his ex-partner and never built 3 boats for a group in Africa that he received $450,000.00.

How about naming the Water Taxis High and Dry since the boats cannot navigate the waters because of the draft on those boats. The City of Tavares paid over $50,000.00 to renovate 2 boats that cannot be used. The taxpayers of Tavares deserve better than this. Robbie Cunninham aka Trident Florida Trading Company LLC,the renovator of these boats can speak seven languages and he can rip you off in all seven.Who in the city approved such a sale without investigating. Robbie Cunningham can be very convincing and probably lied about the draft of these boats for personal gain. He has ripped off probably as much as a million dollars and now he can add his fraudulent endeavors to the list the City he does business in.

Well, it has been documented with the State Attorney's Office that you are totally out of control and have been ordered to stay away from the Cunningham family. You have lied to anyone who will listen and seem to be quite a sicko. So much so that you have threatened the lives of him, his wife and his children. Don't you have a life of your own or are you so sick that this has become your only reason for living?

Evidently, to you $80,000.00 stolen from a hard working man is reason to just let it go. This thief has continually ripped off others in past years and continues to hide behind the laws by whatever means. The attorney general will be hearing from all who were conned in the past soon and just due will be administered.

We shipped from Canada on May 7/08 an order of Bollrd cleats to Trident Pontoon Boats and have never been paid. As well Robby Cunningham has not returned our phone calls to advise us when payment is to be made and is never in when we call. Repeated faxes of the billing resulted in their fax machine being turned of right after the first copy of the over due invoice is sent. We will be in Florida and we will collect the amount owing.

Hello Ed Burtt,

That is Robby's pattern. When I was dealing with him. I hear that he lost his dealer contract with Honda and is on a cash only basis with suppliers. I have his credit record from Dunn and Bradstreet. Where most businesses are late a few days, Trident Pontoons is upwards of 80 days. His rating is the worst possible that a business could possibly have. I also hear he ordered some welders and they delivered them. When the supplier came later to collect he told him they will have to contact the company for payment. The irony is, he is the company. In this economy and with his dishonest and unlawful business practices I expect Trident Pontoons to be out of business soon. Good riddens to a company and owner that has inflicted such pain on the public and small businesses.

Robbie Cunningham ie Trident Florida Trading Company LLC has his building up for sale. He wants to sell building and lease back. To potential buyers. Check his business record with Dunn and Bradstreet. He has ripped off many. Will the buyer be next?

Thank God! I found this site, I have agonized for years over this guy. Robbie is Satan, he will look you in the eye with a straight face knowing he is going to rip you off from the minute he meets you. He stole $100 Grand from us, we agreed to take a unfinished hull for a water taxi project put up 100k in cash. And Yes we never got the boat he has done this to so many people this has to be unlawful. We know of one more person he took 100k from and did the same thing with a similar hull. He has a documented pattern of swindle, out right fraud and theft of services.
Please everyone we need to join forces and go to the Florida AG and the FED's. Robbie has to have not claimed all of our money as income. Someone has to have a congressman or senator lets work together to bring him to justice. We need to uncover others who have been ripped off by Robbie, there is a law RICO perhaps can be applied here.

Hello Joseph,

You can contact me at captainmike@sunshinerivertours .com and I have a lot of information about Trident Florida Trading Company LLC and Robbie Cunningham. There are a lot of others I have talked to and going to the Attorney General will take several others to try to prosecute. I paid him by check so if he did not file that as income he could also be in trouble with the I.R.S. I filed the $80,000.00 for the year of 2005 that he stole from me as a loss so maybe the I.R.S. was not paid?

Gee,

Sounds like this guy fits right in with lake county government. Do you think we could get him to run for public office. Has he got the "too tall to go under the bridge, free boats" ready for
Neron in Tavares yet.

Maybe we could get him to run for Property Appraiser when we have the special election.
Sounds like he's good at collecting and short of performing. That's government training if I've ever seen it.

Seriously, good luck on finding someone within the government to prosecute this thief. Jacksonville FBI should be looing into him but
they are too busy playing national security.
Actually Tampa FBI is active on this but they have to be in their area. I don't think he is.
Don't stop. Even if you have to get signs and walk 441 in Tavares, Do what yuou have to do to put this thief away. Possible good news is the democrats will now control the "Justus Department"
maybe they will stop some of the cronism.

I have contacted the F.B.I. in Tampa. Not sure what is going on. Maybe now that the election is over the officials I will contact shortly will have more time to look into this scoundrel. On the light side maybe he needs to look into a pardon that would pardon him for past or future actions.

Richard Milhouse Nixon is the only one I ever heard of that got such a deal...

This guy don't deserve it. He needs to go to the big house for a while. Keep in touch with the FBI
they mean well, but Lord they are busy.

To Jake who works for Robbie Cunningham. Seems as if their are others that have responded in this forum and others as you say in your post "Sickos" Evidently in your mind and Trident Florida Trading Company LLC you are a "Sicko" if you were ripped of by this man with no conscience and expect to be paid the money that was fraudulently obtained. When Robbie is prosecuted maybe you will be a person of interest? The money that was stolen from me is really not an issue anymore. It is the beleif that he will do this to no one else in the future. This type of con destroys the confidence of other consumers towards small honest businesses throughout the country and the world about the ethics that our businesses in the U.S.A. "EXHORT". "NOT EXTORT"

Just checking in to see if anyone else has been ripped off by Trident Florida Trading Company LLC? The owner, Robbie Cunningham could probably be compared to the Ponzi scheme of Bernie Madoff. Taking deposits and then putting orders into infinite backorders where no one receives anything for their money.

Yes, I have a friend on Guam who was promised a boat by Robbie Cunningham of Trident Florida Trading Boats in Tavares, Fl and lost over $275K with Robbie false promises of "shipping next month." This man has hurt many people who were just trying to make an honest living and deserves to rot in hell on his judgement day.

Yes, also have friend on Guam perhaps same guy mentioned by Mr. Davidson. Understanding is that Robbie Cunningham has yet to deliver paid for boat. And, in the interm sent poor guy a temporary boat that failed USCG approval for intended waters or pax. Ironically, sent guy boat with no engines, electronics, steering system, etc. Unfortunately, guy is still believing that Robbie Cunningham is just going through a bad time and his boat will in fact be delivered. Sad, since this is one of the nicest guys on island and risked all to make this boat a reality! We'll see

He totally screwed us back in 2002. We lost our entire season as he promised the boat would be ready and never was delivered. We had to have it delivered in Florida finally and lost thousands of dollars including having to pay florida sales tax. It probably cost me my marriage too.

The guy is a THIEF and I was always hoping he would get his just punishment, it sounds like his world is crashing around him, finally.

keep me in the loop please

Regarding the Founder of this boat deal Mr Bill Neron, former Lake Co Manager & former Escambia
Co Asst manager who survived the greatest county corruption scandal in Fl history. When Mr Neron was Lake Co manager and with the infulence of his BBQ soul brother and friend Bob McKee they spent $10,000. Lake co Tax dollars to have Lake Co employees build them a BBQ Cooker That looks like a PIG. This cooker is missing from the county property list. A reward is available for the location and recovery of this missing Lake Co Taxpayers property. Call 343-dose-uno-zero-uno to report the whereabouts of this missing property. And, I'm sure Sheriff Borders will be glad to fund the reward personally.

I hear Robbie Cunningham ie Trident Florida Trading Company LLC may have partnered with a seaplane manufacturer. The owner of the seaplane manufacturer should have a chat with Robbies ex partner at Dead River Marina. 20 years later he is still paying for Robbies rip off's.
