The stretch of Hicks Ditch Road where Jamilya and Jasmine Lewis were murdered looks much the same as it did 15 years ago. Full Story

This might be justice for the little girls. However with Dorothy Lewis being the christian she is, I think this is going to be a hard day for her as well. I hope this will bring her some peace, she deserves it. She is an amazing woman. I am proud that she teaches at my childrens school.

God Bless Ms. Lewis. As far as that scumbag Henyard - too bad they don't have public hangings anymore. He could be used as a tool to teach any potential rapist/murders what happens when they get caught, and they WILL get caught. It just boggles the mind how someone could murder two little girls like he did and try to murder their mother after raping her. What an animal - and like an animal that has gone wrong - he needs to be put down.

I would take their place and be glad to see this p.o.s. die. I would feel the same amount of remorse that he felt of Ms. Lewis and her 2 little girls. I know watching him die won't erase what he did or bring the girls back but it would be refreshing to see one less killer alive and breathing air. Hope you rot in hell Henyard and get peace no peace ever.

Based on an e-mail that I received today from Mark Elliott, executive director of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, Dorothy Lewis does not support the death penalty. Here's what his e-mail said:

"As you know, Richard Henyard is to be killed at 6:00 PM [Tues.] for the killing of Jamilya and Jasmine Lewis.  Attached is a statement from Pastor Dorothy Lewis, the mother of Jamilya and Jasmine.  She was brutally raped and shot several times during the crime.  Pastor Lewis has stated that she opposes the Death Penalty.  We will be reading her statement at the vigil at the state prison in Starke.  It is inspirational and thought provoking.  You may wish to include it in your vigils."

Here is the statement by Pastor Lewis that was attached to Mark Elliott's e-mail:
"Victims Can Be Victorious
About fourteen years ago, I was the victim of a carjacking, rape, and murder. During the carjacking, I was raped, shot three times, left for dead, and worst of all - my two daughters were killed. My life is a testimony to the fact that victims can be victorious through the power of prayer. When we pray, we are simply communing with God. Sometimes prayer is a time of worship and praise, sometimes it is to petition God to meet a specific need, and sometimes it is to intercede on another's behalf.
According to James 5:16,“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” So many people prayed for me; they had me on their minds and they took the time to pray for me. I am so glad that they prayed. Today I can truly say that I am no longer a victim, but I am victorious through the love of God.
In the book of Romans, the 37th verse in the 8th chapter states,“Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” It does not matter what you are going through, just remember that God loves you and that makes you more than a conqueror. You no longer have to be the victim of any situation, but you can be victorious over all situations.

Amen Dorothy, you are an amazing woman. I was in the court room when he was sentenced. My thought then and now was what has happened in this mans life to make him so cold? Forgive him father for he knows not what he has done.

I too have prayed hard for Miss Lewis. My daughter is in her class this year. I was appalled when my daughter came home with all of the details of the story minus the rape. She said Miss Lewis told the class she was shot many times and that her little girls were also shot and killed. She also very spookily pointed out that the girls were about the same age as my daughter and her little brother. I really do not think this story should have been recounted in front of a classroom full of 3rd graders. My daughter is very frightened by what happened and I did not expect to have this explained in grave detail to my 8 year old. That being said, I do love Miss Lewis and she is an amazing woman and she will always be in my prayers. While I do not believe in the death penalty, I understand how the laws of our society work. I do not condemn the man who did this as he has already condemned himself.

I feel that it's a shame that Hubbard and Gross who worked so hard to put Mr. Henyard on death row, didn't get a chance to witness their accomplishment. What a cowardly act.
I firmly believe that when the state takes a life, the person they kill is forgiven by God and that person or persons who take his life are condemned to hell. It's wrong to kill no matter how or why you do it. When they live on death row for all those years that should be punishment enough unless for some reason they are unable to stop killing. It's evident that this is no resolution for anyone. It wasn't for the mother and evidently not for the cowardly cops who couldn't watch the man die whom they so skillfully saw to getting the death penalty. "Thou Shall Not Kill......ANYONE!

Justus, just because in your own mind you've created a theory about what happens to people who are put to death, does not make it so. Seriously, what bible did you read that caused you to believe that??? THE ONLY WAY Henyard could have been forgiven was to ask for it. The only way that he IS NOT rotting is hell right now is by accepting Jesus Christ as his lord. His horrific actions were not somehow justified and atoned because he was executed. The judicial system that saw this case through, and even the person who pushed the buttons to administer the lethal medications are not responsible for the deaths of two very innocent children... So, why then would they rot in hell??? Your theories are unfathomable. What causes you to firmly believe that? Did God not say an eye for an eye? Where in the bible does it say that God forgives sins as long as you are put to death????
Please, get away from the cult who has you brainwashed and read the real bible.

I hope this does put my auntie at peace, she really does deserve it.What these men did to her and her children was crude, and I think they're getting exactly what they need.

Wow. This was not her full statement. To take the victims comments out of context or to omit a very important piece of it to further ones political agenda is really rather outrageous. Nowhere, firstly, does she say she is against the death penalty & furthermore the part that is missing is "Now they must face their punishment,as the Bible says"the wages of sin is death".
