This is a full steam ahead movement by Jeb Bush and his friends to privitize our education systems thereby destroying our retirement funds and benefits - where is our unions on this one? No where to be found. It's going to be up to teachers to unite against this massive ongoing corruption. Most Bush related links disappear so you might have to do your own research. Pearson is just one of the companies.

Let's not fool ourselves. With Rick Snot this is all politics. He felt the pressure from screwing with our retirement the last time he run; now he wants to kiss and make up. Won't it be hell if the only two we have to chose from is CharLIE Crist and Rick Snot???
But at least they are wanting to privitize prisons and other things; Jeb Bush and his band of merry men want to steal our schools and turn our education system over to their for-profit companies and take our jobs and benefits in the process - what's a teacher to do now-a-days?
Florida's teachers would get $480 million in pay raises in the Senate budget and $676 million in the House plan although both budgets would leave it to local districts to negotiate salaries though collective bargaining, and both want some of the raises based on merit.
Trying to buy teachers support:
Scott had asked for $2,500 across-the-board raises, but that isn't doable, lawmakers say.
But teachers are also likely to get a Jeb Bush-backed "parent-trigger" bill to deal with (HB 867), which would let parents in schools labeled with "F" grades ask school boards to adopt a turnaround plan that could include turning to for-profit charter-school operators, and more charter-school incentives.
