For those who have received the calls, what does your "Action" say on the chevron site under "Jobs I've Applied To"?

BTW for Texas...you probably wont do the COBRA. From what I hear, they're not doing it any more. I did the COBRA last cycle (and passed, only for Chev to say they werent going to hire anyone) COBRA came before interviews. This cycle is an easier test, with less people testing, and no COBRA.

On jobs ive applied to it just says that this position is no longer taking applications. It really doesnt say anything about what phase in the hiring process you are at. And to Frank, taxes are too dam high everywhere, gas is out of sight everywhere, the economy sucks but I was thinking that working for a company like chevron I would at least have job security, good benefits, with pretty good pay. I am just wondering if I am wrong to think this?

The impression i am getting from everyone that has postted is that this is a miserable place to work and live. I just keep telling myself it cant be that bad. I have applied to hundreds of jobs over the last year, taken test for several, passed all of them and never even got an interview. This is the first one that has contacted me after passing the test to give me an interview. I am going to try to get the job, but everyones statements on this thread have me really questioning whether I want it or not.

Texas...dont listen to them. Chevron is a great place to work. You will be making over 100k after 3 years, and if you live in AL, life is good. Hours are long, but schedules offer many days off. good luck. Anyone looking at this thread has probably applied for this job because they wanted it, so dont listen to all the negativity.

Thanks man, that is encouraging. I was really excited about the oppurtunity until I posted on here for info on the area and the job itself. Like I said in a previous post my sister and brother in law lived on the east side of Mobile for a couple of years and they loved it. They said they would rather live there than just about anywhere. I just wanted some positive feedback because if I am lucky enough to land a job with chevron, it is going to be a huge step for me and my wife and kids to load up and leave everything and everyone we know.

Also, what are peoples thoughts on Grand Bay, AL. I have been looking at maps and it doesnt seem to far away from Pascagoula. Is it a nice town, are the schools good.

grand bay has a great elementry, of course it's country...stay above the 10 freeway (I lived in Grand Bay for a couple years, near the state line...very quick drive.) If you don't mind 10-15 more minutes, look at theodore/dawes, around McDonald rd...much closer to civilization

thanks man. How much overtime does somebody have to work to make over 100 k at chevron. I mean I thought it started at like 22 or so an hour. Do you really move up that quick.

I dont know how many hours, but I know that you start as a trainee, but after 3 years or so you are an operator or whatever, and you should be making somewhere between 80-110 or so depending on overtime. I know a guy who's about 3 or 4 years and he's made over a 100 one year, and about 80 or 90 the next year.

lady just called me, my interview is set up for next week. Are you saying that if hired you may have to work all the time with no time to spend with family. I dont mind working overtime because that is where the money is but I do want to have time for my personal life with my kids and wife.
I knew a guy who worked 48 hrs straight out there. That was ten years ago but I imagine if something happens be prepared to work work work.
