Another waste of public funds. Connie Moran was told by engineers, contractors and aldermen that building a sidewalk on shifting sand would be a maintenance fiasco. Based on this story if it is accurate, 250' will cost the taxpayers over $100,000. Where is the outrage on this? Who is holding her accountable for this vision. We can't afford to keep drinking Connie Kool-Aid

The question we should ask is why the architect and construction company aren't paying for the repair to an obviously bad plan. If this sidewalk is the one they proposed, they should be liable for the damages. On the other hand, if the mayor made changes to the plan against the advice of the architect and construction company, the city will be liable. The mayor should explain this situation to the taxpayers, who will end up paying for this.

Did it occur to anyone that "low bid" is the reason the sidewalk needs to be replaced in the first place?
