Moss Point is the slum of the south!!!!!!!!

I have been all over the country and world and Moss Point is comparable to a third world country. Haiti and Moss Point are almost exactly the same but i think the people of Haiti care more about the way they live than Moss Point. I know not everybody in Moss Point is to blame but my god have you drove around town and looked at the trash in the streets, parks, yards and everywhere else imaginable. Where is the Mayor and the city officials at. There are so many run down houses that are unsuitable for dwelling but yet Moss Point allows it. I feel sorry for the future of the children of Moss Point. Kids start off innocent from birth then growing up in a slum like moss point it just drags them into the life style. I see plenty of grown men sitting on there porches drinking there 40's, that are capable of cleaning the streets up but instead they insist on putting the poison on the streets. People of Moss Point need to step up and run the current administration out and get some new blood in that are willing to change Moss Point. Nothing has been done in the last decade and dont blame whitey or anyone else it is the citizens that continue to vote these crooked politicians into office. Shape up Moss Point you are an embarrasement to the Gulf Coast.

MORE THAN A DECADE
You are 100% right
I've watched the citizens of Moss Point throw food wrappers out in broad daylight like there wasnt a thing wrong with it.
Young men walk the streets, stores, and car washes
all day when they could be working.
The only work they do is rob people and kill out of towners who miss their interstate exit and drink colt 45's.
Don't look for a change.
These same people will receive obama's stimulus package and guess what that money will be spent on?

The sad thing is that Moss Point has some of the most beautiful real estate on the coast. The potential is there, just not the intelligent people. I used to work there and if the FBI would just pay a surprise visit and audit the city's books, that would be a start and several people would go to jail. The elected officials there are just winners of popularity contests and have no real business sense. I believe Mayor Bishop has honestly tried to make things better, but one man beating his head against a brick wall can only change so much. It has nothing to do with black or white, just right and wrong. Drive down Main street. Count the Liquor stores and Car Washes. See the businesses with bars on the windows. The answer is right in front of you!!! Would you want to invest there? Get responsible aldermen instead of "vote for shorty cause he has been there forever and dresses like a fake pimp".

The city is just a playground for thugs. The police try their best, but just look what thay have to work with. They are damned if they do (ex. "All the police want to do is harrass the public") and damned if they dont (ex. The police around here dont do anything about the stealing and the drugs). So whats the answer? How about all those critical of the city find out about a wonderful little thing called community service. Elect responsible officials with business qualifications. Curley Clark, instead of fabricating headlines, there is an organization called the Moss Point Police Auxillary. Volunteer your time and walk a mile in their shoes, if you are brave enough.(but I really doubt you are)

Well to be honest with you, i wouldn't want to live in Moss Point or Pascagoula. They are both corrupt cities if you ask me. Most of the people who live in Moss Point are blacks. Until we get some strong politicians in the city who are not afraid to stand up against the police depatment and other elected officials Moss Point will continue to go down. It is very sad to hear about the drugs and crack houses in the city, but guess what if the officials are corrupt and look the other way when it comes to putting these drug dealers away nothing gets done about the crimes because the are corrupt also. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!

I am a police officer in the city of Moss Point and it is like little Baghdad. Shootings every day, robberies in all times of the day and night and not enough police to patrol the streets. This is a very stressful and rough job. The pay is the lowest in the southern counties and cities of the area, but WE ARE THE TOUGHEST SOB's in the area. The men who work there are to be commended for the job they take on everyday! The area is rough and filled with drugs, people with no social security numbers, no drivers license, no insurance, drug dealers and no jobs. The citizens of the area are 90% southern gentlemen and women but the 10% that are not are gang related and have no education. This 10% is what fills our jails and detention centers. Most of which are repeat offenders. This could be changed with twice as many officers and to turn the Chief of Police loose on these repeat offenders the town would see a complete turn around. The officers and the administration are NOT corrupt, their hands are tied by the worries of being sued due to no backbone of the administration above the Mayor. More backing of the officers and the decisions they make on a daily basis wouldnt hurt either! We, as officers, need to know we are backed and have someone in the system to take care of us also. So Mr. Concerned Citizen take a ride with a Moss Point Police Officer before you spout off about citizens standing up against the police department. When the gun is fired we are there, not you, you are rattling off at the mouth about what gets done and what doesnt get done no matter what the outcome. Put yourself in our shoes and there will probably be piss in them after the first call !!!!!!!!!!

Well i just received my newsletter from the ACLU, and Moss Point made the front page of it. Looks like the Moss Point Police dept have met two people who were not afraid to sue them. Dell Jones and Otis Ashford took their case to the ACLU. The Moss Point Police Dept invaded their home without a warrant and assaulted Jones and Ashford. They both received 50,000 each. Now if every citizen would do the same thing, maybe the police department will change their way of doing things in Moss Point.
