Life is dangerous! No one gets out alive! Ban it! Breathing is dangerous! You could catch a disease! Ban it! I could go on, but hopefully you get the point.

Dog abuser gets … probation?

Your article on the conviction of Joash Klinger for "beating, kicking and strangling his 11-month-old puppy," and being "combative with arresting officers" while trying to kick out the windows of the Sheriff’s cruiser missed an important fact. That fact is the name of the judge who sentenced Joash Klinger to probation rather than to jail.

I believe Santa Cruz County residents deserve to know the name of the judge who believes that returning a sadistic and violent criminal to the streets with probation has something to do with justice, never mind keeping our streets safe. An individual who tortures a helpless animal and physically resists arresting officers is, according to this judge, only a probationary case, while jails are full of non-violent no-victim drug abusers.

"Your Honor" must be one of the few people who believes that an individual with the profile of Joash Klinger is not a potential threat to law-abiding citizens of this county.

Which is why motorcycles, bicycles & pedestrians need to stop trying to occupy the same space as cars and trucks... and trains.

Only probation!!! thankyou passer-by for saving the dogs life.. MF needs to be kicked, hit, and strangled. Then locked up, and his charges to be known to his fellow inmates.

you mean ... which is why people should drive cars less! the roads once belonged to the bikes & walkers.

I drive a car more than I ride a motorcycle or bike these days, but I sure as heck know how to share the road, and I'm super conscious of others that are more vulnerable than me. you must be one of those selfish road-hog NIMBYs!

The "roads" were widened and paved for motorists, you know, the ones who pay for them!
And I'm a very cautious driver, especially in view of the scads of hungry lawyers out there in need of clients. Pedestrians scare me as they wade into traffic seemingly oblivious to the danger. And bicyclists who blow through intersections without a care in the world. Then there are the motorcyclists who split lanes at high speed. Don't they realize the position they put themselves in? Twice I've seen bicyclists insert themselves between the curb and a signaling right turning truck. What are they thinking? They do it to trains as well. Don't they realize that they can't stop on a dime?
