I am looking for 1950-1957 photos or other information about this great summer camp owned by Aunt Mary and Uncle Pete Norton on Larson Lake in Gouldsboro. My father (Charles Kane) met my stepmother (Hazel Tubb - camp nurse) in the Summer of 1950, and married her later that year. Please e-mail: john.kane@traco.com

I went to Tapawingo for many years, and met my wife Pat there. We have been married 42 years. I don't have pictures, but a lot of memories. Would love to hear from people who went there. My last year there was around 1966.

All of the siblings of my family attended Tapawingo Farm Camp for many years. Ruth, Bob, Jim(me), Harry, Doug, Don, and Sal all attended between 1955 and 1966. We all had a great time at Tapawingo and would love to hear about people we knew there.

Let me fix my typos, please. I attended for just two years, and i was very young...in the youngest group of all my first year. I think I was 5 1/2.
I remember my best friend was Kit Peters, and there was a boy named Joey, and another boy whose last name was Fitzgerald. Aunt Mary sent us Christmas cards for years. When my own daughter was five or six my family rented a cabin at Big bear Lake in the Poconos, and I was amazed to discover that this was the same lake on which I spent those two wonderful summers. I took a picture of my daughter sitting on the spillway (waterfall), and John Kane has posted this picture on the Gouldsboro website.

I spent 2 wonderful summers @ Tapawingo... probably 1965-1966... my family was living in Puerto Rico at the time. I remember the names of only 2 people... a counselor by the name of Phil Townsend and a girlfriend by the name of Michelle Pfeiffer. I remember the 1st year there a tree in front of our cabin/tent was struck by lightning and the second year our tent/cabin was partially burned down with most of our clothes. I reached Sharpshooter Bar 1 on the rifle range and Sharpshooter Golden Arrow at the archery range. I loved the times with the horses, riding and grooming, gigging for bullfrogs, trapped a woodchuck, caught chipmunks, snakes, bats and moles, canoeing, fishing amoung the lilly pads in the lake behind the mess hall, playing football and basketball, eating blueberries in the forest, and rolling in the hay with a coed or two.I don't have any pics, although I have contacted the remnants of my family to see if they have any they could share with me... alwbruce@yahoo.com

Phil Townsend was one of my campers in the 9 - 11 boys. I'm not sure what year that was, maybe 1958 or 1959, but he was a great kid; I remember him fondly. He had some physical problems but rose above all that with his attitude, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He was the neatest kid in the cabin - his footlocker was always neat and straight.

I messed up big-time that year, and can only hope that the good times outweighed the bad for my guys. I remember all their faces, but not all their names. There was Steve Tocknell, a little trooper named Tim, and the best baseball player in the world named Robert.

I swapped addresses with both Michelle Pfeiffer and Phil Townsend and we corresponded for a couple of years, but I haven't heard from either since around 1970 or so... I wonder what has become of them.

I've often wondered what became of Tapawingo Farm Camp. In the past a casual internet yielded no responses. I was a camp counselor for the older boys and a Water Safety Instructor [WSI] teaching life saving and boating during the summers of 1967 and 1969. Those were memorable summers. I have black x white photos taken during those two sessions but nothing organized.
