Your point of view is limited as it come from one persons experiences. The interaction with the "gangs" mentioned had little effect upon your life eg, you grew up and became a home owner, even profitting on the sale of the same, right.I grew up in Cicero 1960 through 1993, I went to Burnham, then Morton East 74-78. I went to school with a constant influx of gang members. I walked to school daily, through and by groups of Noble Knights, Twelveth Street Players, and Arch Dukes. With all these groups, the schools and tne neighborhood didn't suffer from rampant violence. Things are much more random now, everyone is a possible target within a war zone like atmosphere.
In the 60's amd 70's much of the activity was aimed at and focused toward the Black communities that bordered the town. As the racial divide eased and the influx of more minorities to the area the violence became integral to the neighborhood. I left in 1993 when the two flat at the end of my block became the target of drive bys on a regular basis. in 93 my home value had doubled from when I bought it in 1985... just my two cents....-b
Congratulations on your success. The police did nothing about the drive by "shootings" at the two Flat you mentioned??
