I work for a medical office in Dekalb county for two years and it has been the same procrastination here too! They complain, argue and fuss when the appointments are filled and they have to wait too long to get the eye, ear, dental screenings and the shots needed to start school. I have 3 grandkids and I beg their parents to start early with school registration to avoid the frustration of waiting until the last minute. Parents know when there kids get out of school, they will be returning next year, so they might as well prepare then. I agree with the other poster also taht "procrastination brings aggravation and a lot of waiting".

And you wonder why the school system in Clayton County takes all the heat. Maybe after the heat these clowns had to go thru to register their kids they might now see what total stupid parents the system has to deal with daily. My Hat's off to the school system!!

Stupid parents, the chance to register your child in January, January and you wait until 24 hours before school starts. clayton County has brainless people, look at who runs the county. I say Let them sweat, maybe their brains will process better for the next school year

Stop toying with Clayton County. Everyone knows that Clayton County is south Atlanta's Buckhead.

It is! It really is!

The telephone number should have a live person to give people information for registration.
And how do you think that person would be paid? You say you learned your lesson. I'm glad for you. But take some ownership: if you hadn't procrastinated you wouldn't have had the problem in the first place. Don't blame the county for wanting to save YOUR tax dollars by not hiring someone extra to deal with the procrastinators.

How can parents complain about the long lines when all this could have been avoided by NOT being lazy Procrastinators. What the heck what they doing all summer long. Parents had since January and yet waited til the day before school??? That is very sad. I was at my son's school in Dekalb County when the Doors FIRST Opened on the FIRST day of registration. There was only another parent there at the same time. Boy what examples are you teaching your children to wait til the last minute to do things. and You think you have a right to be upset. geesh

"Opening the Central Enrollment Center in January, promoting the center in Wal-Mart stores, and staying open on Saturdays all summer long, some parents waited until the last minute to register -- causing long lines, confusion, and anger."
Since January !!! Just how much time do you need to get the basic idea that school is coming up get the children registered !! That's OK we tax payers here in Clayton county have plenty of money to pay extra, with 7 million going to pay for the sheriff's questionable decsion plus untold legal expenses, another 2 million for the board of education decision, over paying for the land, what's the problem with several parents waiting to register their children on Tues the morning that class is about to start !! Truely we have some kind thinking elected officials, and knowledgeable parents NOT !!! One can only ask, What will the next generation bring ?

How about this thought.....
Maybe just maybe, did the parent's ever think that they MIGHT have to do something to contribute to their child's education? Did they consider that they should have registered their child for "free daycare" the first time it was offered? Shame on you.
Oh but you know what? The Government has done so much for them at this point, so I guess they thought it would have been done for them. Sorry parents!
Your children are not a check. The school isn't a daycare center created for your conveinience. It is for education. EDUCATION. Got it? So that means registering your child on the original date and not waiting until THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!
Ok now breathe...you can go get your nails done now.
And before we pull the race card...I am a woman who is African American/Hispanic. I am fed up with the parenting of others.

I agree, you should'nt have waited till the last minute, and you don't need to start teaching your kid's that it is alright to procrastinate!!!!Next year I bet you will register your kid's on time!!

It is not laziness of the parent to try to register your child the first day of school. There could be a number of reasons for that...say for instance...My daughters case. My daughter has her kids pre-registered in SC. The week before school starts she suddenly moves into NC with her boyfriend. Now she has to have proof of residency, she doesn't have that and a picture ID with new address, which she doesn't have because you neeed proof of residency to obtain that...ARRRGGGGHHHH...SO before talking laziness take into consideration the circumstances will ya?

Well then maybe she shouldn't have "suddenly moved" to NC with her boyfriend. Sometimes when children are involved, moving in with someone should be put on the backburner. We are tired of parents who do not put the children first. EXCUSES! A house burning down is a valid excuse. Your daughter as well as all of the others know that every year, school is going to start. It is one of the facts that falls around the same time every year. Meaning that parents are going to have to do something for their children if they want them to go to "daycare" ahem I mean "school" everyday.
