I am torn on this topic. I definetly think breaking a paddle on a child while beating them is extreme. However I do not think that it is terrible to give your child a smack on the butt when necessary. Some child respond to orders given by their parents and others do not. My parents did not smack me regularly however sometimes it did go to that extreme and I turned out just fine.
