Don't go see the movie. The premise is stupid, the directing oafish, the acting amateur. As my 15 year old would say "Its retarded". That comment has nothing whatsoever to do with any Special Olympian.

Lol....good lord...I tend not to let Tim Shriver dictate which movie I see or dont see. If I want to spend 8 bucks on it and then am pissed at myself for doing so, that was my money. I earned it and I can spend it anyway I choose.

I saw this movie with a friend last weekend. We had high expectations considering the cast, but it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. As far as I am concerned, even the matinee price was a rip-off! It is billed as a comedy, but there were many more cringes than laughs.

I can't wait to see the movie! We need some humor and entertainment but the local theater, controlled by some "religious" types, won't show any movie that doesn't correspond with their religious beliefs or political leanings. "W" won't be shown here!

Actually, I was "bornhere" in good ol' Asheville, too. Guess we don't have the same sense of humor or taste in movies.

Politics nonwithstanding, this was NOT a humorous movie IMHO. The Yahoo users (several hundred) either love it or hate it. I don't see how the overall user rating remains a "B" considering how many "D" and "F" ratings it has received. I am one of the later who would have given it a "D+". Of course, everybody will have to see it for themselves to form their own opinion. As for me, I would have waited for the DVD!!!

As for the word "retard" I find it overly PC to expect to ban a word that is discriptive and when used properly not offensive. Unlike the "N" word which except for blacks from the hood the word has no substantive meaning in society and no reason to be used.

Personally, and I can't believe noone has jumped on this. I find Robert Downey Jrs black face portrayal of a white man playing a black man to be racially inappropriate. Funny how racial sensitivity and appropriateness is subjective in the blackcommunity. "White Girls" a movie with two black men pretending to be white girls while making every stereotype and slur possible. Would never have been tollerated had it been "Black Girls" and the opposite been true. Blackface, which was used for about 100 years from 1830s to 1930s is considered extremely offensive. So why is it a dumbed down mindless piece of cinematic garbage gets a pass on what should be a protest starter at least.

If the black community is going to be cherry picking what offends them and when. Then I say the days of claiming inequality are over. Its all fair and good now.

Dan, if you need some humour, here is a link for you:

Just your kind of humour.

As for the subject movie, "The Boss" and I decided it wouldn't be worth going to the theatre, nor renting the DVD when it hits the market.

After reading the LTE, I thought I might have to see the movie anyway (not in a theater, I wait til it's on cable), just to see what all the hoopla was about. But these are good reasons to avoid a movie -- bad acting, bad directing, bad plot. Thanks for the review, now I won't have to try to remember years from now if this is one I wanted to see.

Facts are what they are! The owners kept Mel Gibson "jesus" movie running for over 2 weeks, seems like all the churches were getting their parishoners to all see the thing two or three times. Know one wrote in the local paper that she went 6 times. None of the movies made about the war in Iraq have been shown.

There is the magic word for me, "comedy". No fear in me seeing it. I am into blood and guts myself.

You like it? I really don't. I prefer the "Hitchcock" type of suspense as opposed to blood and guts....but to each his own....:)
