Rental Housing Laws

I remember some controversy in Raleigh regarding the maximum number of unrelated individuals that can occupy a housing unit - didn't they pass a law. Is anyone familiar with it. Is anyone aware of similar regulation in Morrisville.

I was wondering if anyone knew the current NC landlord rules pertaining to security deposits? As I understand it a security deposit must be held or put in bank and must be paid back to tenenat if everything is in order with an interest also is this true?????

It is required by law to deposit it in an escrow account accruing interest which will be returned to the tenant complete with interest if all goes well with rental and no damage to the property.
