Just wondering if anyone knew anything about him...I was wanting to switch primary care providers and wondered what people thought? Thanks!

Nice guy and He seems to know his stuff. His practice is still small enough that he spends time with you.

He is my husband's doctor. He even called him when his mother passed away and talked to him for 15-20 minutes. He really takes his time and makes you feel like he is concerned. I would also highly recommend him !

When I contact him about his patients, he always responds in a timely manner. Is polite. Seems genuinely concerned and competent. Keeps good records and communicates well. I would go to him if I was looking for a provider. (but I love my doc too much, hand picked him from watching him provide care to pts under my nursing care)

I have been a patient of his for a year now. I like him. The thing I don't like is him not being open on Wednesdays. It seems I get sick on the days he isn't open. I end up going to the Urgent Care Clinic, which I hate. I also don't like having to see a Hospitalist when you go into the Hospital. I like seeing him only but understand the man can't be there. He spoils you with the attention he gives to you during your visit and you just don't want to see anyone else. I highly recommend Dr. Shahid.

If you are very sick in the hospital, the hospitalist is who you want taking care of you unless you require a specialist, and you will still see them if they are consulted. With the advancements in technology, the primary care docs just cannot keep up with all that's necessary to care for a sick patient in many cases, not to mention that the patients in the office have to wait if the doc has a lot of patients in the hospital to round on in the mornings. A lot of them are not doing it anymore because they can make a lot more money seeing 3 or 4 patients in the office in the time it takes to see a hospital patient, round up all the test results, dictate a note, etc...it's a headache and in the long run you are better off anyway. The most important thing is that you keep a med list in your wallet, along with your medical history. This could be a very important piece of a puzzle for someone who does not know you.

Maybe he can "spoil you with attention" because he doesn't go to the hospital.
