I loved the unknown zone! I watched it every friday night! I know this is a long shot but does anyone remember a movie about a killer who wore cowboy boots with a red star on them? There was also a young woman who was blind who lived with her aunt, uncle & cousin in a huge house. The killer had murdered her aunt, uncle & cousin & left their bodies where he killed them. If i remember correctly the cousin was brutally murdered in the bathtub & one scene showe blind girl running water in the tub & getting ready to take a bath but then someone comes to the door so she lets the water out of the tub not realizing her cousin is dead in the tub. Another scene shows the phone ringing & the blind girls goes into the livingroom to answer the phone which is sitting on a table between 2 chairs. Either her aunt or uncle has been brutally murdered & is lying dead on 1 of the chairs but of course she doesn't know because she is blind. If anyone remembers this movie please let me know the title. It's 1 of the few scary movies that actually scared me & i would love to see it again. I think the title was "see no evil" but I'm not sure.

I remember The Unknown Zone.
I was living in Harlan,Ky at the time.
I think one of the news anchors from WBIR did the opening lines.
I miss late night hosted horror shows like The Unknown Zone.

I absolutely loved staying up late just to watch the unknown zone. Anyone remember "See No Evil" with Mia Farrow? At that time it was the scariest movie Id ever seen! Those were the good ole days!

hey, does anyone remember the WBIR TV show called "The Unknown Zone" that came on at 11:30 PM on Friday nights back in the early 80's? They always showed some kind of acary movies. It only aired on Friday nights. When the show came on and started it had a red background with the sounds of chains and a gate opening and a man's voice that said something like "You have just crossed over to the Unknown Zone" and then he said some other things kind of like "be careful or such and you might get out..." Anyway, they showed movies like "The Food of the Gods", "Ben", "Ants", "Frogs", Asylum, Who Slew Auntie Roo?, Murders of the Rue Morgue, The Andromeda Strain, and many more..
Anyway, if anyone else remembers this, please chime in.. I know a lot of people will think I am talking about The Twilight Zone... but I am not..
This was an awesome show.. we used to plan on watching it every friday night... but the only bad thing was that I was usually the one who got elected to go out to the end of the house and "turn the antenna" towards Knoxville so that we could watch it.. LOL
"We show you the way in .... you find your own way out! TONIGHT - on the Unknown Zone ...

I have remembered those lines since I was a kid in the great 1980s growing up in Midtown, Tennessee which is about 45 minutes west of Knoxville. I'd love to find these old shows on video or DVD and watch with the original intros from the show and the commercials. Those were good times! I saw "Food of the Gods" and it scared me so bad that I could not sleep that night, same with "Let's Scare Jessica to Death". I'll never forget the way that announcer read that title, he was great.

Anyone know where I can find info on that show or video/DVDs of it? Was that a local show in the Knoxville area only, or syndicated from elsewhere?

Absolutely I remember that show...Channel 4 was the only channel we got...WBIR out of Knoxville...me and my brother and cousin would also take turns holding the antenna because it got the best reception when someone was holding it and creating a good ground....who was the narrator on that show? Food of the gods is the one I remember most...

Yep, the Food of the Gods definitely kept me awake for several nights! Not seen that classic since, but would love to. Wish I could find these original tapes somewhere somehow .... I've been searching WBIR and Unknown Zone on google, but found nothing other than this Topix string of messages.

Wasn't the unknown zone before a show called Fridays? I remember there definitely was a scary show on so I think that is the one. I would always be home babysitting younger siblings who were asleep upstairs. Our house had a door knob that would come off in your hand when you turned it, made of glass. The windows were never locked and open during summer. The cellar door had a tiny little hook and eye lock a kid could break and the basement had a bulkhead entry anyway-right next to the swamp in our backyard--yes a large swamp surrounded by a forest of bamboo and assorted trees bordered by a dirt path that paralleled the length of our house and yard that strangers sometimes used to cut through on if they didn't have a car (just local teens I didnt know it was a small town). Our house was on the end of a dead end street-where a house used to stand that was rumored to be the resting place of a child playing cowboys and indians that while tied up fell through the worn out floor and hanged to death. The house across the street from ours backed to the lake we lived right next to that had water snakes and possibly electric eels for all I knew. And the upstairs had eaves-for those of you who don't know eaves it is an attic that is level with the top floor of a house-on the side of it. Our eaves had a curtain-not a door-entry way and you couldn't stand up in it and it went way back to the back of the house. I would be so scared from the dam show but I could not turn it off, so I'd go creep down and check the basement then I'd peek out all the doors and windows and head upstairs and check the kids and venture into the forbidden zone my parents room and check the closet and eves. I would be so scared I'd almost wet my pants--then I'd run down the stairs and jump back on the couch and hide under the blanket peeking out at the stupid show like a fool ! I still remember how my stomach would feel i guess i was 11 or so, and I'd stay up to watch Fridays--and shut off the tv real fast if I heard my parents come down the road as they rarely did before 3 or 4 am party animals that they were. Anyone remember the segment called DEEP THOUGHTS ? thats what I was looking for when I stumbled across your comments..too funny the things we remember as children isn't it ?

I will have to contact WBIR and see if there is any way to get copies of those old original TV productions with the intro and ending.

"Welcome, for the next time period you are invited to peruse and enjoy a venture slant. A digression into The Unknown Zone. It's a weekly visit into existence, non-existence and interpretation. We show you the way in, you find your own way out. GOOD LUCK. See you on the other side of The Unknown Zone. Maintain precaution."

DID I GET IT RIGHT?

I'm remembering it from my pre-teens. Late Friday nights. Scarred the b'geesus outta me, but DANG i loved it!!!! Wish I had a catalog of what all movies they used to show.
