I am starting this discussion to find out whether anyone had any bad experiences at Lifetime Kia Of Morristown. As a former employee, I was thrown out to the curb over a very lame excuse (in my opinion, that is) and I guess they (Lifetime Kia) has every right to fire without having to justify anything (according to Tennessee employment laws) but to fire someone without so much as a benefit of a warning or anything really makes me wonder if Lifetime Kia has done this before...of course I know they have done it countless times. I know for a fact they fired someone for nothing so they could "find a spot" for a demoted longtime management there while some yahoo took over the demoted's job from Murphy, North Carolina.(Yes, that is the original Lifetime Kia...) There's also questionable issues such as discrimination, which I have seen happen to me--discrimination in the form of physical abuse at the hands of senior employees, the ones who are considered "untouchable"--I speak from experience since I was originally hired in sales and I have seen some questionable sales techniques...and just curious as to how customers were also treated by Lifetime Kia as well. Any feedback to this posting is welcome...I hope to hear from you. Thanks!

this doesn't have anything to do with why you would be fired, but, have you always been a car salesman? did you meet your "quota", and if not did they give you ample time to do this? Sometimes experience (or lack thereof) is a possible reason....training or no training. What did you do before you went to KIA?

No. I originally was hired into "sales" then 3 weeks later, I was sort of "laterally promoted" or "demoted" to the parts department. It wasn't until much later I found out they were not paying me commission on parts/service and I was the lowest paid worker in the parts department. The person who became the "director of parts/service" of both Lifetime Kias in Morristown, TN/Murphy, NC locations did not have a say in anything leading to my "re-assignment" to the parts department. He became very irritated and rude to me after I sent him one email wondering/questioning some things and took it the wrong way as if I was slamming his methodology. He replied saying he had 16 years experience and is in charge of a 5 million a year departments for Lifetime Kia (he was just promoted to oversee both locations, so it wasn't like he had been there for a long time.) and then ended the email reply with a "do NOT waste company time"---well for cryin' out loud...how is being full of questions wasting company time? How in the blazes do I learn if I don't ask questions????? Now, I hate to bring this up as it irritates me to no end, but I've a feeling he has had it in for me from day one, because I'm deaf and 43 years of age. I think they shuttled me off to the parts department thinking I wouldn't be that intelligent enough to figure out the one thing: Which was they were paying me way less than my co-workers (excluding management) When I asked how come I wasn't getting a commission on parts/service I kept getting a runaround. Ever since I had started working at Kia, I lost track of how many times they fired people in the 92 days I was employed there. It's a shame the state of Tennessee has these laws in place which really hurts the worker's rights unless in a union. Darn shame.

I bought a kia sportage in 2006 and am about to hit 30,ooo miles. The girl in the maintenance dept. says I'll have to have a special checkup and the cost is $500.00 or my warrenty will be void. Sounds a little funny to me. Can't find it anywhere in the manual.

That's not funny. I have met some good people at Rusty Wallace Toyota in Morristown. Just curious here-what exactly is your definition of a "loser"??? My definition of a loser is one who makes a posting that has nothing to do with the topic and generally makes a blanket statement without backing it up with facts. Sheesh.

Call the KIA warranty 800 number in your manual. Personally, Id tell em to shove it! Thats outrageous! An oil change, checking the fluids, rotating tires and such maybe...NOT 500 bones for some crap they think up on the spot!!! I HEAR *BUSH* coming outta their mouths!!!

Hahahahaha...that made me laugh. Nah. I'm just a regular ol' fella that can deal with good humor. For some reason, I got stuck with the name Butters (I secretly hate it...lol) from a co-worker at the very same place, yep..Lifetime Kia. And I just use the "Butters" icon to be sarcastic in a way. By the way, interesting postings. And hey, I don't take offense to the Rusty Wallace posting. We're all humans, I suppose---and can tolerate a good spot of humor, even sarcasm.

You bought the sportage at Lifetime? That sounds fishy though..why pay $500. for something that is covered under Kia's warranties? Totally ludicrous, I'd say.

I looked at a 20k$ car at Kia. They are trying to be the next "East TN Nissan". He come over and told me he could do 700$ a month with 4k$ down for 72 months. lol. I just got up and walked out. Idiots.

That's pretty steep. Who was the salesman? Do you remember? And was that the initial quote or was it after a few sessions of haggling back and forth?

By my calculations, that comes to $54,400. Are you sure you heard him correctly? He wouldn't have to sell many at that rate to make his quota.

Well, The one word that sums up this entire topic...
-----> KIA <------ They may be cheap affordable cars but a KIA is a KIA and that all relates to the service and personel...I wouldnt lose any sleep over that one man...Obviously not a place you would want to work at anyway so sounds like its a good thing that you were sent on your way...

How does a deaf guy get hired for sales? I'm not intending to be offensive here, but really, how are you going to respond to my questions if you cant even hear them?

I can read lips and hear decently well with a hearing aid. I was NOT taught American Sign Language when I lost my hearing before I could learn to speak...my parents decided against ASL and for that, I am grateful. If I learned ASL, my communication skills may not have opened up doors for me. No offense taken.

From all indications, it appears you are right. Ever since I was let go, the longtime office manager was let go, then the finance director was let go.(According to information I got, I could be wrong..LOL) but if that's the case, NO ONE deserves to have a black cloud hanging over everyone's head if the bosses are trigger happy in firing. They are taking advantage or rather, abusing the use of Tennessee employment laws regarding firing without having to have a very valid reason.
