Does anyone that has lived in Morristown for any length of time see how crappy the city is becoming? For example, look at the businesses in radio center that are filthy, have newspapers on the windows, and are always littered with people drinking. You can look at the number of vehicles in that area and I would guess 2/3 of them are hispanics that probably havent ever been in a vehicle until one of these buy here pay here places let them drive off the lot in their 3000 lb bomb. It is a known fact that most hispanics dont have a problem with drinking and driving so why cant we do something? This has just been me ranting but here are solutions to some problems. First, dont issue license plates to people without drivers license and proof of insurance and dont let car lots get the tags for them. Second, enforce the laws. If a person is stopped and has no proof of id, take them to jail and let the jail staff identify them with fingerprints, biometrics, or past bookings. Most officers dont want to deal with the paperwork of taking someone to jail for no drivers license or registration, etc. Make the businesses that hire large groups of hispanics prove the workers are legal and if there not, fine them heavily. this is one that bothers me because I was a production supervisor for a local company and had a very good staff then the owner decided to start hiring hispanics and immediately there was problems. These people did not speak any english and therefore were limited in what I could tell them to do so it hindered production. these people also had a problem of putting used toilet paper in the wastebasket instead of flushing because thats what they did in Mexico. Third is how they took over every park in Hamblen Co and if you try to get there before they do, they will make you feel so uncomfortable until you leave or will make comments to each other about the gringos. There are a lot of differences between us and it is put on english speaking people of all races to change and the hispanics never have to. I dont believe Hamblen Co should spend one tax dollar on anyone that doesnt legally belong here but what percentage of our school budget is spent on hispanics and at the same time holds our students back. This is not racist hatred, its just someone that misses the beautiful town he was raised in

Well, you have the "forces behind the force" to consider, too. Bill and Joe Swann, one of which is the general manager of MUS. They don't want the city to get tough on illegals because they'll lose all that revenue that they get from them in the form of utilities, cable, and internet. You have businessmen who have a vested interest in keeping the illegals here. For example, KOCH Industries wants to keep cheap labor for their chicken factory. Some of their employees have even been caught committing identity theft, but only after the victims raised heck when they received notifications from the IRS. Then, you have certain farmers/politicians who depend on the illegals to harvest their crops, and they resist enforcement of illegal immigrant laws (and encourage others to do so, too.) It's influences from people like these who really run the city. There are few city councilmen and women who actually lobby for change according to what their constituents want. But in the end, it all boils down to $$$. The chief motivator is greed, pure and simple. They don't care about the long-term impact of the situation. They just want their money, and they want it now.

If these illegals are allowed to continue living here as they do, how long do you think they'll work for cash under the table? If they are continually allowed to break the law, and are given more and more rights, it will just be a matter of time before they organize their own unions and they'll demand more $$$, too!

So, you see, it's really all about the money. The majority of Morristown residents are in favor of enforcing laws to combat the problem of illegal immigration. But there are only a handful of politicians who are listening. All others are looking the other way. They could care less what we think.

There is a great book entitled "Whatever It Takes" by J.D. Hayworth. The book indicates how bad the illegal alien problem in this country has become. These illegal invaders are wrecking havoc and the crime statistics are unbelievable. Hayworth writes ... In 2003 there were 46,000 criminal aliens in Federal prison at a cost of 1.3 billion dollars ... he also states that there were 74,000 illegal aliens in state prisons at a cost of $880 million and 147,000 illegal aliens in local jails. Most of these criminals are citizens of Mexico.

Now, here's the real kicker according to a GAO study. It looked at 55,332 individual illegal aliens and found that they were arrested at least 459,614 times, averaging about eight arrests per illegal alien!!!

I know exactly how you feel.I went to one of the local employment agencies week before last to get help to find a job.I have been a stay at home mother for 4 yrs.The employment office told me they could not help me because I didn't have recent work history. There were probably like 8 Mexicans in there that they were helping.I seriously doubt all were legal .

I thought the biggest problem in Hamblen Co with illegals was the Garcia slave market but he's gone for now and we(legal americans)are too busy chasing our tails to do anything about it. How much money does the parks and rec dept and Panther Creek Park pay for these illegals to have a place to go when legal law abiding citizens of the county cant get into any parks. To resolve this problem is simple. Make all represenatives we elect, democrat or republican, responsible for this problem not local law enforcement.

LOL amazed I know Tom and work with him almost daily. He is a good man even if a bit eccentric. Tom tried to do what was right and still is fighting the illegal immigration issue.

Currently there are an estimated 13 million illegal aliens in this country. Of those 13 million lets say 7 million of those actually work (for the sake of this arguement) and act as a psuedo 'head of household'.

And for the sake of of this arguement, lets say the average salary of those 7 million illegal 'heads of households' is 30,000 a year.

IF we were to grant a one time immunity to these 13 million with 7 million of their ranks actually working and taxed them a flat rate 0f $5,000.00 per year over the next five years (at the end of that period they would pay taxes like everyone else or simply leave) and applied the proceeds from those individuals to Social Security, Medicare and Presciptions for Seniors that would equate to $35 Billion dollars a year into those programs (collectively) OR put it directly against the national debt, which in turn would stregthen the value of the US Dollar around the globe.... paying debt down makes you more valuable.

On the otherhand we can deport them all. Early estimates put that cost at $41 Billion per year over a 5 year period. The total cost to deport our current illegal alien population would come to $205 Billion. Keep in mind this figure does not address any measures to stop illegal immigration from continuing on a day to day basis.

Now, what is the best return on investment in your opinion?

Incur a cost of $205 Billion over the next five years -OR- Increase revenue in the form of taxes (flat rate for illegals for 5 years) and apply that $175 Billion to something that helps everyone?

We need to stop bitching about problems and start seeking solutions.

Want some perverted justice?? Lets take that money from the illegals under my proposed flat tax program and use it to build the wall / fence to keep their amigos from infiltrating our resources.

Hey cooth wake up you are dreaming. The average wage in a household of illegals is less than 20000 so if we use your number and add reality we are in the hole as we are now. GET A CLUE

I think you missed the point, Fabian. The $30,000 and $5,000 figures are purley arbitrary. Step out of the perverbial box and think of ways we can benefit our country's financial delimna as opposed to writing yet another check.

If a falt rate tax was required of illegal immegrants, that in and of it self would serve as a deterent to those who seek to work tax free in this country, thus reducing the ammount of attempts to gain access to the US.

Well well well... finally someone who sees the reality of the Democratic and Republican Parties.. They are ONE AND THE SAME.. My solution to the illegal problems.. roll the trains into each town, including Morristown.. go from house to house.. round them all up, pack them into boxcars like Hitler did and send them back to Mexico.. might sound extreme, but I want my city back.. Funny thing about the Mexican problems in Morristown.. Go out to the portion of the city where all the streets are named after US Presidents..nothing American about that area anymore... expecially Taft street... it is like a 3rd country out there.. LOL! Go ahead and keep voting for the Democrats and Republicans and see if it changes.. Oh yeah, is this really a deomocracy here in the US?? Why are the only viable candidates for election always D and R's? Should tell the American people something.. Go ahead and vote for "Little Martin Luther King Jr. Obama", Hillary "I voted for an ILLEGAL WAR" Clinton, or FAKE POW John McCain "I am Bush The Same".. See if any of it changes?? LOL! People, the US is a dictatorship masked as a Democratic Republic... LOL!

Either way the system is broken. Approximately 75 to 80 percent of American citizens want these illegal invaders out of our country. Our president, and the Republican and Democrat representatives no longer represent the people. They represent themselves and their financial interests. We, like the Roman Empire, are starting to slowly fall because of inept leadership. McCain, Obama and Clinton are all the same on this issue.

Raven I happen to agree with you but. . . the solution to this issue is not to take trains as was suggested but to go after the reason illegals come here - employment. Go after the employers and you begin to see the problem go away (i.e. Arizona Oklahoma etc.) I know in Morristown you see Koch koods, employment agencies who appear to be hiring illegals with no consequences.

LOL! like was said above... Most people only vote party lines... an R or a D... LOL! The wool has been pulled over the American people for years... and Fabian is correct, it is a Representative Republic, but sadly, we have no representation at all in this country.. Also, yes, the Dems and Repubs are the same on illegal immigrant issues. We will be stuck with John McCain.. but he will not serve his full term.. I predict that all the way.. Watch closely for McCain to run Huckabee as his VP... after all the dust settles.. we will have a President Huckabee within a couple of years.. The Repubs and corporate media are playing this election right down as planned.. Repubs switching parties to vote in the Democratic Primary.. For it has already been chosen, Obama will be the nominee.. Most people whether it be Dem or Repub will not vote for an African American and the Repubs know it.. So, McCain easily wins.. too bad most of the Dems are too stupid to see this..It is oh so funny to watch all the little Obama supporters on tv just knowing that their candidate, Martin Luther King Jr is gonna win.. Obama doesn't have a snowballs chance in he**...
Anyway, back to the original topic.. DEMS, REPUBS... NO DIFFERENCE... A ONE PARTY STATE... Nazism is still alive and is very comfortable in Washington, DC...

Fabian we agree. You know, it is really strange. I am getting ready to retire and I have always loved Tennessee and I will be moving to Hawkins County in 2009. One of the reasons I am leaving Maryland is because of the unbelievable illegal invader problem we have in Maryland. You have no idea how bad Prince George's County and Montgomery County are, and our governor WANTS THEM to settle in our once great state.

You are right about the employers. ICE can start arresting these guys tomorrow but our politicians have the agency under guidelines that make it "politically incorrect." Deportation does work also, but it should be done in a more organized expeditious matter. If they started deporting the males in the household their wives and children will follow. No jobs, no money no problems. Of course welfare needs to be cut-off for these invaders.

Finally, I believe "if you build it they will come." Why do we have most of our goods being manufactured in China? They are our enemies and all of the profits are going into building their military. Since these greedy U.S. companies have already left the U.S. they are not coming back. If manufacturing plants were established in Mexico it creates a new economic base for them. Guess what will happen to the illegals? They will go home. They would be happy and most of the American public would be happy as well.
