Go back to Surgical associates, Dr, Tom C.Thompson.MD one of the best. Did my Gallbladder surgery, and my husbands. Also several of my freinds. All were very well pleased with him. I have heard alot of negative things about Dr. Lumb. Just my opinion. Good Luck

dr. lumb ran some tests on me and told me there was no reason i was having pain in my left side. my family dr. did a hiatal(sp.?) test and it was positive. family doc said, "gallbladder is coming out. which surgeon do you want and NOT dr. lumb! apparantly they had had words about my case. i told him to pick one, i had been through so many tests in almost four months i didn't care, i couldn't take hurting and being violently sick anymore. he set me up with dr. crawford at ut surgical associates. wonderful doctor, explaining everything, what to expect, as back to work in a week after 4 months of strict bed rest for fear of rupturing. he really didn't want me to go back for three weeks but i was totally broke and was very persistent. surgery took place at morristown hamblen hospital, where i was treated extremely well by everyone. the phlebotomist is my new best friend, she numbed my hand before putting in the iv. the anesthegiologist was great too, taking time to listen to my fears and concerns since i have asthma and i smoke, and the last time i saw him he came in grinning, then held up the syrynge! "here comes the best part!" he said! hahaha! minimal scarring, about 1/4 inch in three spots diagonal, and the belly button. the day after i woke up and my belly button was bloody, i called and he had me come in to check it. he looked at it and apparantly it was from right after the surgery. my surgery was in early november and i'm back on my diet and feel better than ever! good luck and let us know how you are!

I think Dr. Lumb is a good surgeon but I thought his main practice right now is cosmetic surgery. Dr. Thompson did my gallbladder surgery several years ago. He did a really good job, I wasn't in any pain after the surgery. The only thing I wished he had done differant was I would have liked for him to have taken my appendix out as well while he was in there!

Thanks to everyone for your input. My family Dr. talked highly of Dr. Lumb but I had never heard anything good nor bad about him.Dr. Crawford had done surgery on both my husband and sister and I thought he did a wonderful job. So I was torn between the two.

Both Doctors are very good and very well respected but a lot of ppl. I thought Dr.Lumb was only doing cosmetic surgery but if you can go to him for your surgery remember he tries to do everything with leaving very small & unnoticed scars

Dr. Lumb performed 2 surgeries on me and was absolutely wnderful. I had hardly any pain and the scars, well let's just say..where are they? Now my sister is driving up from Alabama to have him perform surgery on her as well. He's got wonderful bedside manners..explains everything to you, will take his time and is a patient man. His staff go above and beyond for his patients as well. His wife ia a wonderful person as well.

He doesn't do just cosmetic surgery. He's a surgeon and his degrees are on his wall.

First of all if you were hurting on your LEFT side then a (Correct Spelling) "HIDA SCAN wud not had been done since your Gallbladder is on the RIGHT side,,, if you went to your family doctor and said my right side is hurting then two diff doc got told two diff things... if the left side was hurting then possibly the test ran was EGD or Colonoscopy, Get the facts straight before commenting on a Doctor,, Most doctors get negative feed because some pts want the surgery to stay out of work, but the case is Doctors can only go by what u tell them is hurting and the symptoms, they r human and remember U r not the specialist neither is your Family Doctor, thats why they send you to a SPECIALIST like Dr. Lumb, Dr. Thomspon, and ect.... to decide what is best for the patient. And Dr. Lumb is a General Surgeon and does Cosemtic Surgery also Juvederm, Botox, Radiess and Laser: Hair Removal, Vascular, Titan, and IPL: Removes brown Sun spots..... I like Dr. Lumb and his work, he not your natural doctor, he is not uptight and very easy to talk too.... If I needed surgery I would want any Dr. that takes pride in their patients and work

you can go to this site and check the license status of every medical professional in Tennessee.... it provides education history (for docs) and whether the pro has a valid license or if their license has ever been disciplined, you can even read the court records if they have:

http://health.state.tn.us/licensure/index.htm

great tool..... TN gov actually has a really helpful bit of stuff on the web
