The roads here are clean; no ice or wet spots to freeze. The snow we got has all melted accept in some shaddy spots. Taking that into consideration I would say school will happen as usual.

Wow! You are smart "enuff" to type 2 questions on the internet but not smart enough to Google the nearest TV station to find out.

Lazy or just looking to start a stupid thread?

You must be a public school graduate, really young, or really old.

Hawkins is out which means Grainger county will be out considering they are ALWAYS out! If there is a chance to get out they get out.

Hawkins County schools are closed. Need to plan ahead. Can't be late for work, and CAN'T leave a little one at home alone. We work different shifts, and there is a gap between getting home from work and leaving for work.

Well if Hawkins is out and Grainger MAY be out, then Hancock county will be out as well. Always comes in threes.

If you have lived in Hamblen County for any length of time you should know by now that Dale Lynch isn't going to call school off unless we have a blizzard nor will he call it until the last minute. He has done this for years now. I think it was this past Friday morning that I my doors were frozen shut on my car and I hit several patches of black ice on the way to school but did dear ole Dale call off school, no. Unless you look out your window right now and see a blizzard I think it's safe to say that school will be in session tomorrow.

If they aren't on the list to be closed, can you not take common sense into consideration and know that they'll be open?

I get your point, but in our county it isn't always on the website, at least not till the last minute. I heard that Hawkins County was closed early this morning from my neighbor, and it wasn't on any of the 3 news websites until this evening. Also, it STILL isn't on the Rogersville WRGS radio website, which is where the school handbook says to stay tuned for school closings. So, I understand what the other posters are saying. In Hawkins County, at least, they aren't the most efficient in getting the word out, and usually it's last minute, or close to it. Last Friday when we were on a 2 hour delay, it didn't show up on the news websites until about 6:45am. A decision should have been made way before that, even the night before. Parents who work have to make last minute sitter arrangements when the school officials wait. I would like for them to send out text or email alerts, but our principal says that "isn't feasible at this time".

Anyway, it's supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow, so wouldn't a 2 hour delay be enough? But Hawkins County is a very big county, so there may be some back roads towards the mountains that aren't melted, yet. I understand it's sometimes a hard call, but they should know something by Midnight the night before.

You can get text alerts on your cell. Go to WBIR's website and sign up. They will send you a text whenever there is a school closing or a weather alert. I have been doing this for over a year.
