Good comments about DJ's and the Lakeside market. I eat our for lunch most days and am sick of fast food.
What other dives and dinners do we have in this area that is worth a stop?

Cardin's Drive-in on Ashville Hwy. just past 4 way in toward Knoxville is good. Also there is a small place in Newport that is in a landscape supply store. I know its weird but its good food. Dont know the name but its a bunch of old grandma looking women and they can cook. Go to Newport on 25E and hang a right at the first light and it is on the right across from the fairgrounds. They bring a little container of sliced cucumbers, onions and tomatoes with your food to eat with it.

A little far out but if ever in Knoxville try Long's Drug Store on Kingston Pike - in the Fresh Market area- old timey in the midst of heavy traffic. Excellent food - good atmosphere.

ate there several times - love the hot dogs, burgers, big cones and grilled cheese. The last time I ate there tried grill cheese again with fries. Sandwich was over "fried" too much butter and soggy the fries were the same---- may have just been a 'bad day'

Country Corner - old highway in Mooresburg used to be really good. They are up the "road" from Cooks by The Creek- word up on CBTC - last go around there - food wasn't what it used to be. Country Corner always had the best pie 'ever'

Ronnie's Restaurant on Morningside across from the Davy Crockett Museum. Best BBQ, hamburger, ribeyes around. Homemade desserts, giant chocolate collasol and carrot cakes are heavenly.
