Those with some history in Morristown, please refresh my memory. Starting from Crescent Center and heading west, what used to be there?
I think the center was Wallace hardware. Going down the N side of the street, what was before time out deli? Next was the Mercury court, and then the United Realty/Coldwell Banker building which was moved.

Help me remember what all was on AJ about 30/40 years ago.

It would appear that "Time Out" was probably a service station, seems there were only residental properties between the Deli, Mercury Court and the lot on the corner of Economy which was Prater's Furniture.

Seems the lot across the street where Chresent Car Wash is was the Lincoln Mercury Dealership owned by Ralph Doyal or by the Vaughns..The service station on the same side was owned by the Bales.Next on the same side where KFC was a motel owned by Fred Hartman named Colonel "I think" next that I remember was Jack's Resturant, on the corner which is now Captain D's was a car lot owned by Jim Owens.........

It is possible since Doyal of Linclon-Mercury and Bales were related.

TimeOut is located where an old Spur gas station used to be. There used to be a place where Fazolli's is for Putt-Putt. Going West, there was a service station. Next to that was a head shop called The Shed.

About 27 years ago, Mr. Ghatti's was where that home nursing service is just a little west of the current Time Out. And that title place on the other side of the street on down a little was a Mrs. Winners chicken place.(Was that how it was spelled?)
The drive-in where Taco Bell is now was once a Dairy Queen. We would go there and could see the screen of the drive-in theater across the road. Used to drive us nuts to see the movie, but not be able to hear it! We had some fun making up our own audio though. Blue Circle was in Radio Center where the car lot is now across from the Post Office.

The Mr Ghatti's was originally built as a restaurant called Sambo's. This is now Pulmacare. The KFC location was originally the location of the Colonial motel. The Taco Bell location was originally the location of the Dairy Queen. The Long John Silvers location was originally an American service station and car wash. the location where the old west Burger King location/ restaurant now, was a car wash. The Goodwill location used to be Krogers grocery store. Right beside that was the TG&Y discount store, it has now been divided up into Dollar General, etc. The Taco Johns was originally a seafood restaurant called the Jolly Sailor, then it was changed to the Covered Wagon cafeteria. The Sonic location was originally Taco Rancho, then Burger Chef for awhile, then an arcade before being torn down for the restaurant called Beefys, then Lorenes Biscuit & Burgers and then torn down for the Sonic. the Applebees location wad originally a strip shopping center that contained an auto parts store, Pedal Shop etc. This shopping center burnt in a massive fire in about 1990/1991. this area was also the location of the Sunset Drive In behind Henderson Motors. Also the tobacco warehouse was near there. Also on down near Kmart where Save A Lot is was originall A&P grocery store which was also a White Store for awhile also a Superior grocery store and also a temporary Knox Williams store briefly. The title pawn place or whatever it is now near Justins used to be Mrs Winners and before that it was a restaurant called something, I can't think of the name right now, but it had a small British policeman on the sign blowing a whistle.. The name will come to me in a bit and I will post the name on here. Of course the location of the Blockbuster was originally the Plaza Motel. The CVS was originally Sunset Shell. Of course the car lot near that wad originally Ballance Chevrolet with a big sign that had the man holding the car keys on it. I'll think of more stuff in a bit and will post more..

How about the Morristown Plaza? Does anyone remember what all used to be there?

The Plaza was built in 1967(?), and I think it was all farm land before that from what people have told me because I wasn't born until 1968.

Where the Golden Dragon resturant is now was Chelsey's resturant and before that it was Shenendoah Steak House. Lakeway Auto used to be the Datsun dealership before it moved to its current location. Where the Thai Garden is at used to be Duff's. The church beside that used to the Volunteer Twin Theature. Across from Manley Baptist used to be Western Sizzlin Steak House. Hillside Grill was Angelo's. Does anyone remember the two to three story home that was located where the new construction for the Morristown Regional Eye Center is going? The old Kia dealership was Lowe's until they moved to their present location in 1999.
