I don't know anyone who still uses Charter. I would recommend the other one even tho I have no experience with them. I have heard many times that Charter has a serious customer service problem.

Charter ppl are rude and don't know squat. if you have a plm you are better trying to fix it yourself

I had Charter for years. Seems like it was a constant price increase. I debated on switching to one of the satelite companies but decided to go with Musfiber. I have been happy with their service and love their price.

I have charter. Be careful of these bundle packages and 2000 channels. Most of those specials last 6 months or maybe a year then you get a big shocker of a bill.

Don't get either! Both are too expensive! I had charter for years.Their service is good but their prices are high. Get AT&T U-Verse. You get a lot more for a lot lower price, and they are ahead of the other cable/internet companies with technology! Check it out online and see if it's offered in your area.(If it's not, it will be eventually, because they are expanding.) It'll be the thing that will cause Charter to either drop their prices tremendously, or charter to go out of business.

I currently have a MUS for cable and internet. Pay about 143 a month for 8mb internet, digital cable with HDTV and one DVR box. Happy with signal quality and internet reliability. Wouldn't mind a slightly faster internet speed.
So the ATT rep comes around last weekend and tells me that he can get me a better deal and better service too. I tell him I've heard AT&T's customer service blows, and he says well, you will call me as your personal rep with any issues you have, and I will handle it for you. I say, okay, well what about this that I've heard the internet speed varies a lot and isn't always as advertised? He says, oh, I dont know what you've heard, but that's not correct. Maybe if you live in BFE you'd see slower speeds, but you should max out the connection all the time here in the middle of town like you are.
So he tells me I can get 200-some HD channels, 4 dvr boxes, and 12mb internet for $120/month. He says there is no contract, and he says I get a 30-day free trial, and if at the end of that 30 days I don't like it, they come pick up their equipment and I don't pay anything. This didn't sound correct to me, so I made him write it on the order form and sign his name, which he did. I say, what happens when this promotional rate ends? He says, yes it does end after 6 months and your price should go up, but if you call me every 6 months I promise to renew your promotion over and over so that your price doesn't go up. Even though this sounded like bullshit, he also wrote this down and signed it. So, I ordered the service to give it a try.
So a few days later the installer comes out. I show him what all I have, 4 tv's, and 3 computers. He says, "uh, are you sure you want to do this? I mean, did the rep explain to you about shared bandwidth?".
I look at him like, what? No.
Apparently AT&T service only feeds a max of 24mb of data to your house at any given time. Each TV can use between 2 and 6mb of that data. So if you have 3 tv's running, your internet speed is no longer the 12mb advertised, instead you may only see 6mb. IF you record a separate channel on the DVR during this time, well then your internet may slow to a crawl, because the TV's are using all the bandwidth.
So I told him, f**k that, no way I'm switching under those conditions.
Then I ask about giving the internet-only a try, so that I could get full speed. We call into AT&T headquarters, and the rep there tells me that 12mb internet only would be $25/month promo jumping to $45/month after a year, and 24mb internet would be 44/month promo jumping to 64/month after a year. I ask if I can get the 30 day free trial to see how reliable it is. The rep says no, that is impossible, we don't do that. IF you use 30 days worth of service, you owe us for 30 days service. I said, f**k that, thanks and have a nice day.
LOL AT&T.
I went through pretty much the same BS with AT&T. When they came to install, they told me that since my home was located where I was, they could only hook up one receiver because of the bandwith?
I too, told them to take a hike.

The only service offered in my area is Charter. Looks like Fibernet is limited in their plans to expand.

Fibernet is much better. The lady who helped me was friendly, not a pushy sales person. It was refreshing. The installation was professional - not sloppy. But now the negative. I live in a subdivision recently added to Fibernet's service. I had to go into the office to sign up. The line was long and it was the scene I've seen all to many times a lot of employees but only a few actually helping customer's. If I wasn't so frustrated with Charter I would have left. It would have been great to have someone come out to my home. AT&T my not have good service but the service rep coming to customer is a terrific idea.

The customer sales rep only comes to your home to sign you up. I talked with 4 different reps in a 5 week span. All the previous ones had quit each time I called back. They are getting money to sign people up, then they quit. Most were UT students.
