Word is Butch told all the employees that the company would close June 30,2012. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Guess it depends on who you ask.

Rumors have been going around for years that Allied is closing on **/**20**. I doubt it's the Morristown section, as that's a gold mine for Butch. Little birdie told me an outside company is going to bid on Cocke County... either Lifeguard or Rural Metro (again). Little birdie also says that Rural Metro won't bid on the ambulance service unless they can get the county fire service as well.

As far as Morristown goes... It would actually hurt Morristown EMS if Butch closed the doors in Morristown. Morristown would not be able to staff the trucks needed to adequately run all the emergency call AND the convalescent calls. All that would do, is open up the doors for another private service to step in a pick up the slack. In fact, if anything, Butch could make a mint by selling his service to R/M, Lifeguard or any of the other private services around.

But yeah... it's been said that the worst thing that could happen to Morristown EMS is for the Allied employees to show up for work one day and find their place closed down.

Well, getting the trucks in house is one thing, but where would they find the people. It's not as easy as just hiring all of Allied's employees either. Nothing saying they'd even WANT all, if any, of them.

No, trust me, Morristown EMS COULD handle it, but not right out of the gate. It'd take at least one month, if not two, to get the staffing needed. All that does is give some other 3rd service adequate time to start running calls.

Most wouldn't work there if they were welcome. How many EMT's work there that do 40K a year?, hell how many medics there do 40K??? Its all about the money. Butch is no bigger ahole than Houseright is to work for, so why not go for the most money??

I disagree. Morristown has EMT's and Medics lining up at the doors. Because it isn't about the money for some. Morristown has never had a problem staffing, because it's a good quality service, that takes care of it's employees.
