Today I saw two separate MPD units at the bottom of a hill hiding behind the "road closed" barricades at the Morris Blvd exit of 25E northbound just past walmart and the car wash. As you know the speed limit is an artificially low 35mph due to the construction nearby, even though the barricaded highway would still easily support 45-50 safely.

This is no doubt an easy moneymaker for the MPD to pay off those new Chargers. Don't be the person who has to make this month's payment on one. Keep your eyes open and your valentine one radar detectors on.

It's not a money maker. People need to slow down in construction zones. There are people trying to work and not have to worry about idiots running them over because they can't slow down for 30 seconds to go thru the construction. I promise Walmart will still be open when you get there. If you get a ticket it's your own fault. The are out there for YOUR safety and the safety of the work to make people slow down.

Dude, there are concrete dividers on both sides of the road, what could possibly happen to endanger a worker regardless of the speed of cars on the highway? Also, the workers are not working in direct proximity to the barriers, they are yards away under the elevated roadway. The only possible danger to workers is at the two crossing areas in/out of the shopping area, where trucks and workers cross traffic (not on 25E).

If you have a smart phone, get waze gps app. It shows and verbally warns about camera intersections. Also users can report and it will show speed traps, cops, accidents, hazards, etc...

I think it is totally ridiculous to have two officers sitting at that end of the construction site. There needs to be two on both ends! The speed limit should be down to 30 through the construction. Another prime example of I want what I want and don't care what it does to/costs anyone else. By the way, moron, the state will tag an extra $500 on your ticket because it IS a construction zone. I guess you are too lacking of knowledge to know how easy it is for a speeding car/truck to go over those barricades and injure/kill one of the workers. Maybe you need to get a job up there/get a job period and be the one who gets hit!

Well said! It also doubles the points on your license if you get a ticket thru a construction zone.

Slow down! It's there for a reason you damn retard. I'm glad to see them sitting there. Wish they would do it more often. Tired of people riding my ass and getting all pissy at me because I know how to drive. I'm gonna start break checking, we'll see how well those barricades hold up.

No doubt that people speed in high traffic areas and construction zones, and this is a danger to both work crews and other rivers. Part of this so called construction zone has nothing to do with the real construction happening near Walter's State. Watch where Morristown PD sets up their "check point chickies". These tend to be outside the real construction zones, near speed zone changes, and at the bottom of hills. These are speed traps, plain and simple. Other states have legislation regarding that issue since local law and enforcement and local politicians refused to acknowledge the quota system. Oh, you didn't know that local law enforcement has quotas? How naive of this unsuspecting and trusting public.

Morristown PD should work on protecting and serving instead of beciming glorified ticket hounds. With all the crime in our area, we need a force to protect its citizens, not hiding behind barricades and trees.

Finally, I am not suggesting that we abandon traffic laws nor the rules of common courtesy. I would like to see our local law enforcement shift priorities and resources to protect the citizens. For the record, I have no tickets or an accident in 30 years.

Absolutely agree! In addition - it's end of the month. That means they're out doing their "fundraising" in addition to their normal duties.

To the word police, I meant to say "drivers" not rivers and the word becoming was misspelled.

I have had two different officers laugh when I mentioned this today. They know it, we all know it, now change the policy.

That whole area is a screw up. Especially going from WSCC to Walmart. Why the hell is it 30mph through the 4 lanes? It has to be a speed trap.

"Citizen" aka "sheepizen" will be along shortly to explain it to you. You know, in case you went too fast and somehow magically propelled your vehicle over a 3 foot concrete barrier thus injuring a construction worker, or in the case that one of those workers who is stationed yards away from the roadway might find himself transported into the middle of the highway and you were going too fast to stop. It will all make so much more sense after he explains it to you. Just read his posts in the voice of that old guy who narrated all the educational films in the 1950's.

If my head were not "out off" my a$$, I might not have had ample time to slow down and fully extend my middle finger before passing the units running the speed trap.

I agree all the cops know how to do around here is sit and wait for you to speed or just follow you around like they don't have anything better to do with there boring lives. You know the funny thing is all these motorcycles around here going 90 by house but I never see any pulled over but you get your nicer car out and here they are behind you. They need to get a life

I would LOVE to see them pulling harleys over for failure to yield (when they pull out in front of you and expect you not to hit them) or loud exhaust.

cops are scum and deserve to be cooked in a spit-roast over an open fire like the pigs they are.
The speed should be on a scale depending on the car, sex and age of the driver.

A 30 something man in a sports car can safely double the speed of a woman in the same car and 4 times as fast as anyone over 65 in any car.

Women and elderly should be banned from the road during high traffic times

So motorcycle riders need to be pulled over for loud pipes? What about diesel trucks or these punk kids with mufflers as big as their Honda's? I think you need some help with understanding the law.
