Say what you will, some how turn this thread into a god bashing....but I'm tired of seeing Morristown in the news because of all the crime. Don't tell me to turn off the news or pretend that it's not true, but this one time quiet town is becoming a harbor to thugs, illegals, and gangs. I want my town back..And if the only thing you can think to say is about my spelling then don't bother saying anything!!

Everyone is tired of all the crap that goes on in this town. But there is pretty much nothing that we can do. If we try to take the law into our own hands we would be put in to prison. Lets face it our goverment won't do anything about it either.

Thats what happens when towns become cities. There become ghettos, which brings in the illegals, thugs, and crime. As the economy gets worse, people look to move to places with lower costs of living (such as east Tenn.). I think a good way to start off helping the community would be to stop the drug addicts. I have no Idea how that could happen, and I am not saying other places don't have the same issues, but you are leading the pack down there "Though Jessee said data from Tennessee is limited, studies published in 2007 by the Associated Press showed that Tennessee leads the nation in painkiller prescription increases and that deaths from prescription drugs annually roughly equal the number of murders in the state." http://www.timesnews.net/article.php...

The stats for your town are rather dire:
http://www.city-data.com/city/Morristown-Tenn...
Your hispanic community is HUGE! I was quite shocked that 20% of Morristown is hispanic. As a resident it is time to bring these things to everyones attention. Take back your city before its to late, unless it already IS to late.

Politics and self serving politicians are our biggest problem. Politicians attaching themselves to religion is hurting both. We have "conservatives" or republicans who jump on the abortion bandwagon and at the same time have no sense of caring for the living and struggling. So they herd the religious sheep to vote that way because otherwise they are condoning abortion and are in danger of eternal damnation. Then we have the county mayor candidate who is a farmer and supposedly employes illegals. A city mayor with empty industrial parks who also embraces the illegals and her husband supposedly is in the business of exporting jobs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am capable of being misinformed. Our true unemployement rate is probably higher than the great depression rates and yet nothing is being done to rid us of illegals who some employers love because they won't make waves for fear of deportation. We can build sidewalks, and put in brick looking pavement and antique street lights so it looks good but what we needed was four lanes for traffic. We've purchaced property out near the county for the "water treatment" plant that is 50 years old. Built million dollar fire stations in view of volunteer fire departments. Common sense is a scarce commodity in these parts nowadays !

lets not forget the whole wasting of so much money to paint the raised sidewalks downtown to bring in more business then ripping down one end of the street to put in a proposed parking lot. wasting our counties funds with bullshit "beautification" projects and then tacking on a new tax for garbage because they have flushed every last penny from the county coffers. we have a local government that is too concerned with "keeping up with the jonses" and not concerned at all for the citizenry. but, this being morristown, keeping up with the jonses is the most important thing people know how to do.

It seems that we have allowed the wrong sort of people to come into our towns, and the finger can be pointed at us the people, who were too lazy to do our own work so we hired out the Hispanics who would work cheap....should have known it would snowball, always does....so when you start bashing the town and what it has become, point the finger in your own face..I'm not saying I want them here either, but we did it to ourselves and when 1 ant finds a grain of sugar, he lets the rest of the pack know where the wealth is. I don't see it ever going back to the way it once was. They were allowed in here and there are enough of them in numbers that they don't have to worry about leaving....did you know that 4-5 families live in one house and work together to have what they want? Seems we have got too big for our britches and act like we are too good to do the things they do. But let me tell you, our parents and Grandparents, and Great Grandparents worked for what they had and didn't live in great big fancy houses that echoed when you walked thru them. They lived in homes where you could smell meals being fixed and hear the laughter of children and on sundays, they all gathered together to have a meal shared between all of the related ones and we would bring our friends with us too. So whoever you are, just get off of your soap box and go with the flow because it's not changing!!!!!

Point the finger somewhere else. I've never employeed a hispanic for anything, nor have I ever hired anyone who does work illegals. I've worked most of my adult life in a factory in competition with the Mexicans. It's the Chamber of Commerce, Big business in general, and the scammers tryin to make a buck off some poor illegal who doesn't know any better than to do stuff that is unsafe or illegal as long as they get a paycheck, that are to blame. Blame a system that encourages laziness and rewards it. Blame people who don't vote, or vote for their buddies even though it's detremental to their own livelyhood. Blame the ones who profit from the illegals being here for not being pro-active in keeping them out. It's the working families who get stuck footing the bill for educating, policing, providing medical care, and suffer the driven down wages. How do you think it effects property values, living in a town that is now famous for it's illegal population, rising crime, traffic scameras, high unemployement, and it's management that seems oblivious to the whole situation ? We need our leaders to step up and lead, to say what they actually stand for and a voting population that'll take back our town.

Unless you are a full-blooded Indian, you hail from a clan of immigrants! Each and every person in the US who is NOT an Indian....whom I might add were treated very badly by our ancestors...came from another country.

I don't like people coming in here illegally, but for those who are here legal, they have just as much right to be here as we are and you know what? They're not only mistreated by a lot of people in the US, they're also mistreated by their own people who are here ILLEGALY!

The answer is not to get rid of all the Hispanics...I think the answer, like Ashes said, is to start with the DRUG problem and the illegal Hispanics contribute to it in a big way.

Why did the Feds leave the investigation on the Hispanic crime? I heard that on the radio.

Oh geeze, We were not the first invading nation in history ! Read a history book. If we hadn't gotten involved in WWII most of the world would be speaking German or japaneese. That was in most of our parents and grandparents lifetime. The indians were terribly mistreated. Not going to deny that. Fact is the US does the worst job in dealing with immigration in the world. Our laws are laughable. It's a joke. It's draining our economy. It's putting a strain on every public service we have. If they are here legal, learn English, pay taxes, and as long as they aren't flooding a particular job market and driving down wages, I have no problem with people from any country. No other country can you gain citizenship like here in the US. One of the deadliest gangs in the US was started by a man in a Cuban prison whom they stuck on a boat and SENT here. The terrorists who pulled off the 9/11 attacks started off here legally ! They learned to fly right here in the USA ! Our education system is failing, our infrastructure is outdated, We have enough problems of our own, don't you think ? Homeless veterans, committing suicide, millions without healthcare, unemployement at around 15%, Good jobs being outsourced and if they are replaced it's with lesser paying jobs. As for mistreatment, guess what ? Every person in this country EXCEPT white males between 18 and 40(ish?) have a special interest group fighting for their rights ! How much do we have to take before it's OK to be fed up ?

If the city spent as much time getting rid of the illegal mexicans as they do "beautification" crap we would be much better off, get rid of all the waste in the city!
