It is a holiday parade celebrating several different things, one being winter solstice.
another being the fictional tale of the birth of a man to a woman who cheated on her husband and lied saying she was a virgin, and getting knocked up producing a bastard child she named jesus.
her naive cuckold husband raised him as his own
he later learned tricks like today's magicians use to fool people into thinking he was special.
some people found out about his lies and killed him as he deserved for lying and stealing from people. he then supposedly became a zombie or vampire and now wants people to eat his flesh and drink his blood.
that last part sounds like what happens in underground fetish clubs today, so maybe he was just a kinky bastard ahead of his time.

yes if there ever was a Jesus he was a bastard by definition. no one can deny that.
look up the definition of bastard, hell there should be a picture of jesus there as the original bastard.

what is am saying is JESUS WAS A BASTARD AND HIS MOTHER MARY WAS A LIEING CHEATING WHORE

like it or not. If it is publicly funded and someone finds it offensive the ACLU will sue and courts have always sided with them and towns are forced to change the name and pay damages to the offended plus pay the expenses incurred by the ACLU
If Motown does not want to lose money they do not have the name will be changed and any references to Christ and Jesus be from private exhibits and none paid with tax money

I have already called them and they wanted the addresses to send official requests to I emailed the info to them this morning

They will file a Jon doe suit on my behalf of it is not changed

After all this, I was at the parade. There were a lot of people, parents, children and grandchildren there. I was saddened by the lack of excitement from the parade participants.

Most of the people riding on the floats were silent and still with glum faces looking out at the crowd.

The people walking, marching were chatting with each other or looking like there were walking the plank.

I thought parades were supposed to be fun, entertaining and lively. What happened?

You must come to terms with the fact people are offended by having the notion of some myth. Shoved down their throat
Do some research some towns have been forced to change the name. Others simply canceled the whole thing which I prefer

I was very disappointed this year. All the rules made it less exciting. The sirens should have been allowed the kids love them and as for performances the should be allowed alot of the dance teams practice extra just for the parade. I went to see my son perform in the East High band but they had to move so fast that i didnt even see him. Bring back the paradewe all know and love Please. And just so everyone knows JESUS WAS IN THE PARADE ON MANY FLOATS. I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I LOVE THE CHRISTMAS PARADE!!!!!!!!!!

Sad in Morristown: Are you sure you were there? I was there, and I heard sirens and lots of them; kids had to cover their ears! They loved it though. And I saw more than 1 dance troop and gymnastics troop perform as they went down the street: very good job too! The bands were both excellent, and moving appropriately. This was one of the best parades Morristown has seen in years! They even threw candy again!
Seriously, I just think most of you sit around and think up stuff to complain about so you can argue with one another.

Get a grip folks.
This is not New York. It is a small town Christmas parade where the entry fee is $25 and is run by a group of volunteers.
I believe that Frosty the snowman has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus from a biblical sense; but like presents and candles on a child's birthday cake, it is just another way to celebrate what is important. I also do not believe that Mark Harmon really works for the government or that every crime can be solved by beautiful people in 60 minutes.
Your tax money is not being spent on the parade and if you think it is not Christian enough; or to Christian- get your own parade permit and do it the way you think it should be done.
As for me - I prefer a hot fire, a cold libation, and the warmth of new and old friends stopping by to warm their hands as we enjoy the show.
Happy birthday Jesus and thanks to the downtown merchants.

it has been proven if there ever was a jesus going from events wrote on the bible that Jesus would have been born in the spring. Match or April. Not I'm December. The December comes from one of the many celebrations stolen from other people by Christians

Being a bit judgemental yourself aren't we? Have a blessed day and Merry Christmas. Some of us choose to teach our children what CHRISTmas is and how Santa came to be, just a nice old man that loved giving on CHRISTmas!(bah humbug)
I told you Santa would be the star as usual and not Jesus Christ! Did you see whose picture made the front page?

The parade should be on a weekend, such as Saturday where we can go downtown and enjoy the day , like a festival and drink hot cocoa and eat Christmas cookies and other Christmas home baked goods, music etc etc etc etc . The parade on a Thursday night is so rushed, people getting off work, etc, etc if the city really wanted it to be a grand event they.would have it on a weekend would be nice if more companies would enter but with the way things are anymore a weeknight is too much of a tassel, I know a lot more people would go and join in on a Saturday parade.

<quoted text> I never said going to a parade was a sin. I said Santa Satan would be the highlight and not Jesus Christ. By the way there is someone else that chimes in as The Truth beside me at times. It wasn't me that posted first here. They just can't handle the truth. I guess you find that's it's right to twist other's words? I never said anyone was going to hell for going to a parade. I guess you see nothing wrong with slander? Santa is Satan. I guess you think Satan looks like a two horned ugly monster? The word of God says He can transform himself into an angel of light. Doesn't Santa Satan look all so beautiful to children and even some adults? Just like an angel of light!
So Santa is satan huh? You are a real kill joy you know that? If you're married I feel sorry for your spouse-I would bet it would feel like dog years to be married to such a judgemental, negative person like you-but then you're a christian huh? Its people like you who claim to be christian yet judge EVERYBODY else why I quit going to church-haven't been in years-so you better get on here to post how I'm going to hell now-hurry up and post it.
