I don't think it's right that they get you a jobn and then you don't get payed the full amount and they get what you don't get. It's a scam! They hire you out for less than the normal employees at the places make!!
I think we ought to sue these places for cheating us. They think they are sooo great well look at them their job is cheating people!!

I recently went through the horrible experience of working on assignment for Express Employment Professionals in PA. I have worked through temp agencies before and Express honestly has to be the worst. They are completely rude, they place you in ridiculous assignments that don't pay well OR last as long as they claim, and they handle things in the most unprofessional manner I have ever witnessed. A couple weeks ago I had to take my son to the doctor as he had a fever for 3 days and it reached 103, and I got SCREAMED AT by Express that "this was not a good 'excuse' to miss work". So I was let go. No, there is not "more to the story" like I called out all the time, etc - they are just a completely UN-family friendly or understanding company of when unexpected events occur, and I actually just filed a complaint against them for how they treated me and fired me. My personal advice: DON'T SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY.
That's horrible. I'm sorry to hear you were treated that way. I work for Express in New Jersey and our company is very professional, we do everything by the book, but these places are individually owned, so I would imagine not everyone does everything exactly the same. I really love the company, they can work around your schedule if necessary, and are very understanding, plus they offer IMMEDIATE health benefits to everyone, which was a big plus to me, considering it is a temp agency. Our office has extremely nice people in it, literally everyone, which is not something I have never had the pleasure of experiencing at a job, so I don't know, those people probably were just working there to "work" not to actually to do their job and help people. It's a shame. They are not all like that.

My husband got a manufacturing job through Express. They said it was temp to perm, but they are always hiring for the position and at the same time letting people go for no reason. They have not violated attendance or any other policies, and most worked very hard. I think the manager of this office and the company are in agreement that they will never hire anyone, and will just keep filtering temps through. I think it should be illegal to tell someone it will ne a permanent position, when they know it will not be, no matter how the employee performs!

Girl I was about to get on here & say the same EXACT thing. Everytime they give my husband a new job AMY always promises him it'll be 5 days a week, 40+ hours, & it's temp to hire after so many days! Well guess what happens, he'll get to work 3 days @ the MOST & then he'll get a phone call stating that the job is no longer needed temps. Last time he worked she promised him the same thing & he even asked her if it was for sure because he wasn't going to waste gas for a one day job. Well as him & a few others from Express were leaving the jobsite, they asked the main boss in charge of the factory if they were needed. The boss said "not anymore this week he said to ask Amy. They all get to Express & Amy takes their time cards & says "the job is over, thank you guys for working." Than she has the nerve to just walk off! In the beginning when Dana was there my husband never had this much trouble. She found him a job & if that assignment ended she was quick to find him & others a new job. Express is nothing more than a joke! They will lie to you & promise you the world just to crush you in the end with a $80 check! They need to either get some new people in or close down all together!

Perhaps your husband should review the definition of slavery. A slave is forced to perform work and has no choice in the matter. I doubt your son is being forced to work for Express Employment. He is able to leave for other employment at an outside company, not contracted through Express Employment, at any time he chooses.
I wish persons who post here would stop and think before commenting. Comments like this are based on emotions and not on facts.
Tell your son to get a job.

I'm new to TX but not new to temp agencies. I've applied at 4 others since I've been here (end of June). I have 25+ years of experience as an Administrative Assistant and no one seems to be able to send me on an interview. I kept getting told that they have jobs, they need to contact the company and then they'll get back to me in a day or so.....HUH!!! No one ever calls back and they're all terrible with returning calls.
Does anyone have any comments about the EEP staff/office in Fort Worth?
Thank you for any comments.

You hit the nail on the head with your final thought! I am an agency recruiter and it all comes down to managing expectations of both our client and our consultants. Unfortunatly temp agencies are not simply a medium to put unemployed people to work. We essentially work for our clients and are essentially an outsourced recruiting process to find the right fit for their jobs so they do not have to waste internal resources.
I can speak from experience, I do get bombared with unqaulified candidates who are simply unmarketable and I cannot work with them. The reason why the majority of people are posting negative comments on this site are because they fall into this category. The problem here is the misconception of what temp agencies purpose is. I suggest you spend more time fine tuning your professionalism and skills rather then posting negative comments on this site.
<quoted text>
I cant say I have recruiting experience but saying a person is unmarketable is just baloney. Its a very medieval mindset to think that here are only a few people who are qualified to have a job. Anyone can have a job, and should. they just need to find their niche and I think I made the wrong assumption that temp hiring would do that. Much of the time you got to just help yourself, but it is a shame there are peopke who think like this out there.

Apparently in other states they may suck, but in Oklahoma they are great. I love working for Express. They got me an assignment the day after my interview to get on with Express. Paid 8.50 the first one and was a ninety day temp-to-hire. Got another one a little later on for a week temp job that paid 10.50 and got 12 hour days. Loved it. You should put in for them. Great job(s).

I actually worked for Express in Lancaster. I loved my job, and met some wonderful people who I was lucky enough to place. Unfortunately, I was shocked at the number of people who you would go way out on a limb for, and they would either show up late, call off, or not show up at all!! The bad part is that there were way too many people, and not enough jobs. I would have so many qualified applicants, and companies who were looking for ONE specific skill. We didn't get to decide how long the assignments lasted, or what they would be paid. I know that I adored my people, and went above and beyond what was expected of me, to place people. It sucks that there were bad experiences with some good people. The reality is that jobs are so limited, and there are people with college degrees just happy to take manual labor positions, which left less skilled people out of luck. Some companies only look at the bottom line, and want the most qualified pros for the least amount of money. Unfortunately they had the final say, not us. Express truly is a wonderful family oriented company as a whole. Ironic thing is I am now unemployed, have A LOT OF professional experience, but local agencies seem to be avoiding me due to my employment at Express. Funny, huh?? I. Wish you all the best of luck, as I know how hard it is to find a decent job!!!

They are not a scam and employment agencies should not be outlawed. They are a group of professional people that focus on getting good people good jobs. If you want to slack off and stay home, then stay home. Their job is to fill jobs. If you don't want to work, don't go to an employment agency.

In regards to making them illegal. Are you crazy??? They are providing a service (and should be compensated) and filling jobs. If you don't feel you should pay them, go get a job on your own.

Pretty simple - Express Employment is not a scam and is in fact one of the best employment agencies in the country.

Okay, I've just noticed that the last 3 posts were in favor of Express...and since they started with one from Morristown, I can't help but believe they are actual express people making theirselves look better. As for the Express in Morristown - I have personal experience with them. What they do is underhanded - but not illegal.
Dana was great. Know why she had that job? Because her husband was operations manager at Berlkine. The owner brought her from Knoxville, and Dana was being used to secure positions in the sewing department of Berkline. Then there was another lady - not long ago, dont' even know if she's there now. Tall, blonde, short bob hair cut - her husband runs PFG... so, wonder why she was hired, right?
Express Employment is geared toward 'professional' jobs. Administrative, clerks, engineering, straight to hire full on degree required positions. It was even told to me that the only reason Express was dealing with industrial, in Morristown, was to pay the bills. KaTom, Mahle, PFG, Vifan - those are the 'real' customers that Express wants.
So,'temp to hire'??? Well, your chances are about 1 in 100 if you're going to factory for them.
Don't believe me???? Look at their website. See Knoxville? See those jobs? See the other locations? Where's Morristown?-- I'll tell you where, still be decided upon by the Express people if they really want to commit to Morristown (after over a year) before they have to start paying their 'franchising' fee.
"Temp to Hire", "Well treated", "Insurance Offered"...this is the bull they sell to---unfortunately a lot of unemployeed people, right now. The temp thing...it's a lie; and they know it. The well treated... I almost feel sorry for the 'Amy' chick spoken about above. Shit runs downhill, and she's just doing what 'they' tell her. And, as for that 'insurance'; oh, dear God - please read the small print, costs, coverage,- even being able to qualify for it, is a joke. Once again, don't believe me? Next time you're in their office, ask any of the 'office' people what kind of insurance they have. It's not the same that they offer to their 'cattle'.
If you truly cannot find any other job - then by all means, go into any type of staffing service with your eyes wide open. But, otherwise, know that staffing services do nothing that you can't do. Check unemployment office, drop by the businesses with your resume, constantly call the Human Resource departments and ask if they are hiring - at the companies you want to work for. And, when you get enough money, open your own staffing services and hire the wives of potential 'clients' in your area.

I have worked for Express and find them completely disgusting. They hire you for a job and do not tell you that you could not work for weeks at a time. All the company cares about is you as a number to fill a position. If you are not working and ask if there is other jobs you could do the answer is always no. The jobs I have done for them require relocating for months at a time, and they expect you to just pay for sitting and waiting to work for them. I have seen Express employers/workers comment on the net in favor of themselves, what a slimy way to run a business. The reason you are here reading this is because they are a slimy company. They think there system is working for employees and they will not make changes because once they think they have you in their bull pin that's all that matters to them. Do not get caught in their trap of having to stay somewhere for weeks without work without a fallback plan to get out. I have seen many in this trap, and the camps look like a scene out of a Mad Max movie. Please heed the warning

One of the Express founders, Bill Stoller, is suing the other, Bob Funk, for fraud and embezzlement. At the very least I would say Bob Funk is dishonest and a crook. Court filings claim Funk stole in excess of $46,000,000. Is it a scam? Judge for yourself

I work for them and they are very professional and the assignments I have been on are very clean and professional places. They always answer their phone and I have even talked personally with the owner of the agency here in Omaha. The problem is, a lot of their clients aren't hiring. They are constantly trying to get new clients and the owner is out tirelessly searching for new clients to provide us places to work for. In my opinion one of the best despite the lack of work. Like another person said, they are new and trying to tap into their field.
