My daughter was in Leslie Tharp's class. I loved her. She was a Great Teacher and she was fun. Not stuck-up...a "hip" teacher. That was 3 years ago.

I am Leslie Tharp, and I am very pleased with the above comments. I do consider myself a good teacher. After August, they become my "babies." I like to do hands-on activities, sing and play games with my students. I love art activities, and try to integrate them into the curriculum. The last of the year is always bittersweet for me. I love watching them grow up and become first graders. But I hate losing them.

In honor of my colleages, I cannot say anything against them. I work with the BEST teacher in the county. We all work well together, and do a lot of activities together. There isn't a teacher I wouldn't want my child to have for kindergarten at Russellville. I hope this helps!

I went to school at Russellville Elementary years ago, and way back then the teachers were not so great. The school has really progressed over the years, and both of my children went to Russellville under the loving and caring Principal they have now, Mr Sammy Taylor. He is a wonderful person. The school has great teachers now, and I think all of them care about their students.
You should be pleased with this school.

To Concerned Parent: It is a scary ordeal to send your children to school and also a new transition for the children. You should not worry about Russellville at all. They will take good care of your little one. I was such a worry wart when my son's went on field trips and such, but the Teacher's and the Staff all work together and they do a great job. So, you have made a good choice in schools. I wanted my Grandchildren to go to Russellville like myself, and my children did, but they live in North Carolina now..So sad..Well, don't worry.

"DOES IT MATTER?" of course it matters. Ms Tharp was my child's kindergarten teacher, and she was the BEST. A kindergarten teacher is the person that introduces your child to school. He/she gives them the foundation for other teachers. He/she also gives an idea about what school is about. Would you want your child to have some crabby old teacher who is ready to retire????? This person can make a world of difference in how your child views school.

Sorry "Friend" Does it Matter is just a bogus name I used in other posts. I do not use my real name because of the bashing people do on here. If you had read my posts then you may have thought different about me. Why do people in this town always think so negative....Again sorry, I will change my name..

Russellville is a great school as I said in the earlier posts. Ms. Tharp lives near me and I have not met her in person, but I hear from the other children that she is a great teacher. So, "Friend" I hope my new name does not offend you this time.

I am aide at Russellville Primary. It is good to be on the inside, and I think it depends on your child to choose the best teacher for him/her. Here is the low down:
Jo Ann Thomas-Stickler for lots of paper work. Strict. My son had Thomas, and it was work, work, work.
Sherri Lowe-new to the school. Doesn't work with the team always and not very social with parents.
Kim Brooks-fun and funny. Always talks to parents. But can get hateful with kids.
Lisa Nunn-the nurturer. Good teacher pets kids, but expects them to learn a lot. A great teacher.
Julie Lambert-awesome teacher. Very creative and organized. Very sociable with parents. Kids love her.
Leslie Tharp-awesome teacher. Expects kids to learn a lot, lots of singing and games going on. Always joking with parent and with us. Kids love her.

All are good-you just need to know what your kid needs to be successful in kindergarten.

Hope you find the right one!

My child had Leslie Tharp for kindergarten. We were often invited in to help for parties, working with students or just listening to her teach. My daughter could read before she left kindergarten, as could most of her peers in Ms. Tharp's Class. She is funny, classy, and the kids love her!

Ms. Tharp is the absolute best. Our children have had her and I couldn't have asked for anything more! She loves the kids and what she does. Who wouldn't? You get to be 5 yrs. old again, and again... through their impressionable, loving eyes! She is a great teacher. I highly recommend her.

Are you referring to the same Sherri Lowe who taught at Fairview? If so, my son had her for kindergarten and she was a wonderful teacher. I did a lot of volunteering at his school and she was by far the best I worked with. She was fun and the kids all loved her. My son is now 16 and still talks about her.

I also did a lot of volunteer work and subbed at Fairview--Sherri Lowe was a great teacher. I especially loved hearing her read stories to her students. I once told her she should make a video of one of her stories so I could watch it at home--they were that entertaining. She also does a lot of hands-on activities. She is new at Russellville so give her some time to adjust to a new setting.

My Child had Tanya Bell when they were in 2nd and it was the worse year that we had ever had in school. Sammie Taylor will not do anything about it, so take care of it before you get into the school year.
