elderly man who should not have been driving pulled out in front of a tow truck
How many people are going to have to die before elderly people are banned from driving.
I say 65yo is the cut off but yearly testing on a full road course at 55.
65 take their license and confiscate their buicks and sell them at public auction, then put the money into an account they can only use for public transportation.

You are a huge prick to even say that. You want to speak I'll of an elderly person and take away their independence. Seniors are having to work longer than they originally planned bc they spend all their hard earned money taking care of grandchildren bc the parents are to sorry. A lady lost her life by accident. I'm sure her husband will feel guilty enough IF he even survives. Shut up and keep your hateful comments to yourself a-hole.

You would feel different if the old geezer pulled in front of you or ran over one of your kids.

It is a fact elderly people need removed from the roads for their and our safety.

The idea of selling their cars and using the money for other transportation is a good idea. I am sure business would pop up that specialize in elderly transportation. Like a taxi service but all the cars would have to be Buick's because that seems to be the car of choice of the 50+ generation.

I don't care what the age of the driver, pulling out on the highway from Old Witt Road is difficult at best. At certain times of the time of day, I go all the way around to avoid that intersection. It is dangerous.

You just proved a point. You are still able to make good driving decisions unlike the old murdering geezer who just closed his eyes and hoped no one would hit him

I may indeed feel different if that were to happen & I pray I never have to face that. The road they were pulling out of is bad enough & very dangerous. I think a transportation system for seniors isn't a bad idea however you will have people that will try to exploit or take advantage of them eventually. I work for a business that cares for elderly & no matter how hard we try to employ the best people We do get bad eggs every now & then. I just ask you pray for these people as they mourn the loss of their loved one & hope the man survives. Bless you & have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I do think they need driving tests starting at 55. I hate to hear about the tragedy though.
Call it a refresher course. Because you and I both know that their are some seniors that need to have their eyes checked out.

I hear when the city moves its garage to the old Roy Widener that the greyhound bus station will go where the city garage is now. Then they are gonna get a bus service going. Funded by the federal government

How much money is being spent to try and keep him alive?
If he survives how many more years does he have anyway?
An age should be set that if someone is very sick or gravely injured the only help that should be given is pain medication.
There comes a time when the money spent is more than the life is actually worth.

If the person or family has their own monies and want to spend it let them but no public or insurance monies should be spent on anyone over 80 at a minimum less if they are in poor health or on public assistance. A sliding scale depending on a persons helth, contributions to society, ect...should be set

That is just a fact, reality hurts sometimes but you can not keep spending millions of dollars on elderly people that will die withing a year or two any way. It would actually be best for them to let them die painlessly than suffering by continuing to live while sick or with dementia

I think that is a very good point and I believe if you research obama care you will find something very similar in the works.
It is sad but there comes a time when it is not only throwing money away but could be cruel to keep a person alive.
It is like painting a room in a house that will be torn down next week. Why bother?

You are lucky . I know I have but thank God never caused a wreck instead of putting him down you should be praying for him that he lives he has family here that loves him,and I guess every wreck that happens with a old person its their fault NOT!!! Also I guess after people get so old they should just give up and die? Most people do not start really enjoying life until after they get older as with him had to work all their lifes not to be a burden on others, all I got to say is may God help us all !!!

Funny you misspelled "can" as as "cab" because if he had taken one he would not have murdered his wife. You were also mistaken in the tense when you said she IS your aunt you should have said she WAS your aunt.

I am sorry but yes it is his fault because he was too old to be driving, if a younger person pulls out in front of someone they are more likely to avoid the wreck because their reflexes are much faster. If they do crash they are more likely to survive because their bodies are not as frail. If you really cared about them you would have taken steps to stop him from driving, maybe you could have offered to drive them or had another family member take them where they needed to go.
I see elderly people almost every day poking along in the fast lane or swerving all over the road like a drunk. I always do my best to scare them into not driving. I will go around them and stomp on the brake. I will cut in front of them within inches. I will get pass them on the right shoulder if on a 2 lane road and cut back in front of them.
my favorite was an old blue hair lady I followed from russellville school to where 11-e turns into a 4 lane I waited behind her till the 50 other cars that she had accumulated behind her past and then I passed and cut in front of her and almost stopped then stomped the gas right before she hit my rear end but at 20mph she would not have done any damage. I looked in my mirror and she was on the shoulder stopped. I went to the stoplight at ingles and turned around to see what happened, she had made it to the parking lot at BP and was sitting there with her hand on her chest.
I drove up next to her and gave her the one finger salute. that was priceless, I wish I had a camera in my car when that happened so i could watch it when I needed a laugh. i have since bought a dash mounted camera that records 2 hours in 10 minutes increments then records over them if you do not save them. I now have a way to re-watch if I ever get that lucky again. if I do i will put it on youtube and post a link o topix for all to see.

I wish I could say I am sorry she died for you but I could not and be honest, i can say at least only him and his wife were hurt and no innocent people. I can also say i wish if one had to die it had been him or both and not just her.

I am sorry, I heard on the news the tow truck driver was OK. I am very sorry he is hurt and he should sue the family of the geezer that pulled in front of him for allowing him on the road knowing he was a danger to everyone.

Please don't pay no mind to the low life's on here that has no respect for themselves or no one else! They where good people. May Grace rest in peace and recovery for CB.

This has hurt my family very much and will continue to hurt them. The ones that are putting down elderly must not have anyone in their lives they care about. When you work up into your 70's let's see how you want to give up what little independence you really finally have. Going to get a few groceries or going to church becomes your life. In this busy society people dont have time to wait on you anymore. At one time the elderly were looked up to and not put down. People would rather have a bunch of pilled up or drunk young people on the road. The ones putting down the old need to look at themselves.
