Yeah, that's definitely not fair. Are you not in a union? I would bitch!

OK, say you have an employer that says you're great, and gives you 35-45 hours a week. They ask you to cover for fired employees, and you agree, then get suddenly cut to one day a week with no explanation, and no previous complaints?

That's BAD MANAGEMENT.

Contact attorney David Burkhalter in Knoxville. He knows all about wage and hour issues.

Burkhalter is an attorney that I contacted once when Morristown Utilities was discriminating against me - I'm female.
Evidently they paid him off, because he refused to take my case.
Clark Rucker and Stewart Leonard of MUS are the worst bosses ever, hands down.
It's a shame how much they get by with.

I guess I've been pretty lucky in my work since I've had mostly above average bosses.

I did work at a life raft manufacturing company in FL in the shipping/receiving department which was supposed to have an "open door" policy when it came to work issues. I went in and talked to the Human Resources gal about a problem, the bosses wife (co-owner) saw me, questioned me, then terminated me. So much for their open door policy.

I worked at MUS years ago when Bill Daniel was still the office manager. It was a good job but they definitely discriminated against women back then (with pay and treatment). The worst person, as far as sexual harassment went, was in accounting and he left years ago. I know it was rumored then that he left to avoid some situation he had created with his bad behavior. He probably should have been prosecuted. But, so many of the attorneys in town are connected to MUS through one thing or another that they won't take on a case because of conflict of interest.

I know David and he would not be paid off. He loves the thrill of the fight. More likely, he decided that your case was no likely to produce a favorable result. No offense, but a good attorney looks at the likelihood of success before deciding to take a case. He is not going to spend his time and energy on a risky case. He is in business too. It really is a judgment call on his part.

Isn't it funny how that "open door" can swing back to hit you in the butt? I had the same thing happen to me, except my boss was the problem. Apparently, it occurred to her after five years that I had more education and experience than she, and I was getting noticed at the state level. Since I had excellent evaluations and pay raises, she could not claim incompetence, so she had my "position" eliminated and then told me I had to train others in how to do my job! Going to her superiors did me no good, since they believed she was the reason we were so successful. They will soon find out that was not the case, I believe.

It's all good, though; I got a new job at a much higher salary and a much shorter commute. I can even work from home if I wish. I hope your situation worked out for the better, too.

My worst boss was my hubby. Married people should never work together. Love the hubby but we didn't need that much time together!!! He fired me a few times & then got mad when I started to leave! Lol
