Anybody have an opinion on Healthstar Physcians?
Hello

Im not real crazy about them as a full time dr, but I love the fact that they have the sick clinic til 8 or 9 pm during the week and they are also open on sat and sunday sick clinic or they use to be. It saves alot when it comes to going to them or going to the er. With the sick clinic they accept insurance and you do not have to be an established patient to use them.

Are you looking for a general doctor, or a specialist?

I've been with Healthstar since they opened their doors and absolutely love them. Anything and everything is there if I need them. Just don't have an emergency room which is ok with me.

All the services you need in a One Stop Shopping Atmosphere. In today's hectic paced society that's a real plus!

Three generations of my family go there, and we have been well satisfied with the care we received there. There are many doctors in town not associated with HealthStar, so if you have a problem with them, simple choose one of those. When a referral is needed, our doctor asks if we have a preference and does not insist, or even suggest, that we go to someone else in the HealthStar organization.

It's Deathstar. Not Healthstar.

Dr. Joanne Langtom is terrific. She is a endocrinologist. She speacializes in Diabetes and Thyroid disorders. I would recommend her to aanyone with these conditions.

HealthStar send you from one dr. to another. It's all about the money

True. I try not to refer patients there because when they go to the orthopedic for knee pain, they will end up with the endocrinologist just for a dexa scan, which a primary care provider can order and manage. Then they end up with a neurology referral for back pain - a true money pit.

You are sent to someone that the primary care doctors feel you need to see. I know for a fact they will send you to someone in their network or outside it. I just had surgery preformed in Knoxville by a doctor my healthstar primary physican sent me to. His reputation managed to get me in swiftly and got my problem repaired. Thanks Dr. Cooze and Dr. Harris for being caring physicans and putting your patients needs first.

I have been a patient of Dr. Coozes since he came to Morristown. I find him very caring and concerned about the welfare of his patients. The healthstar set-up is designed to make health care easily accessible. Try going to another doctor and being sent across town repeatably for things healthstar can do under one roof. I, for one, think convenience is everything. I give healthstar a big thumbs up.

I agree that they give you every choice. Our doctor asked if we had a preference when we needed a referral. When we didn't have one in mind, he asked which hospital we preferred, asking specifically if we wanted a Knoxville hospital. I certainly didn't feel that he gave any preference to doctors in the Healthstar group or was promoting local hospitals. We certainly have every confidence in his integrity.

I have only experienced good things from HealthStar. Morristown is fortunate to have such a facility.

They legally have to ask. Who's going to say no? Please. And why should I pay specialist prices for something my primary care can take care of, like ordering tests for bone density, at a lesser cost. And by the way, glad you are fortunate enough to have Dr. Cooze. You must have good insurance.
