I'm interested in what you would have to say regarding the nursing and physician care on the labor and delivery unit at Morristown-Hamblen.

If they arent no better than they were 25-30 years ago I would go elsewhere. Back then Lakeway didnt deliver babies, so I cant comment on them

There's been an awful lot of topix started about mhhs delivery and local ob-gynecologists..I think ppl are just trying to start crap. Why don't u learn how to spell delivery before you actually deliver if you really are..besides that, every hospital will let you come and tour the birthing unit and some even offer classes, so go find out for yourself.

My opinion there are a lot of good things said about Hamblen so how is that starting crap. To me this is really a good question to get opinions on which hosptial to deliver at. Of course everyone has a opinion and that is all it is opinion.

I think the birthing experience takes many people to make is successful. I have 2 experiences with MHH. My first my baby was sick and was still born EVERYONE was awesome. My second my child was delivered c section but she was healthy and happy and the delivery unit and surgury unit was awesome. From the Drs to the nurses everyone was great. Once I was moved to the floor the nurses has a attitude which really soes change the whole experience. Six hours after my baby was born the nursery nurse brought me my baby because they couldnt get her to eat. This was about 1 am. When my breakfast tray was brought to me about 7am the cna was upset I had my baby. I explained to her I enjoyed every minute of it. She took my baby and left the room. I was so upset. I threw a fit. They told me because of my c section I could not have rooming in. I was so mad my Dr was called. He told them to bring my baby back that it was cruel to take it out of my arm with my first baby dying it was even worse. A hour later I get her back. She came back after they gave her a bath and she had poop on her but even though her diaper was clean. I turned into the meanest person ever. From 6 hours after a c section (minis the hour she was taken) I took care of her. The dayshift nurses were mean to me I could not get out of there fast enough. This has been 16 years ago and I still hear bad things about the post care floor. I am not saying not to go there because when time mattered most, when push came to shove my daughter would have died. You make your own choice. As for Lakeway Hospital most doctors here made the choice to go with Hamblen. My advice is talk with your Dr ask if he had to make a choice to chose which hospital to practice at and if so why did he chose the hospital he practices at. Be sure to tour both hospitals and ask all your questions. Best of luck in your search and I hope your experience is awesome. Its memeries in the making and every detail is important. One more thing Dee Dee is now in a high ranking postion in the office at Hamblen. She was a nurse who helped delivered both my daughters and I know this unit holds a dear place in her heart. She wants every ecperience a wonderful one.

I delivered 2 babies at MHHS in the last 3 years. Both experiences were fantastic. Rita is the best L&D nurse EVER. My oldest was delivered in another state (big name city/hospital) and I can say my experience here was much better. Any experience in healthcare can be dominated by the worst care/person you encounter but it does not define the experience. I wish the rooms for post delivery were as nice as the labor rooms and I think they should have rocking chairs in them but the care was excellent.

You mean, go to Covenant Health. Mhh died in June along with the founders dream, a locally owned community hospital. Any money spent there funnels to Knoxville.

No I am not an employee at the hospital, I'm a stay at home mommy to two little girls. I was merely stating that all your gonna get on here when you ask about a place is someone's opinion, which are all gonna differ. The only way to find out what a place is like is to find out for yourself, go tour the place and ask to meet the employees that are going to be taking care of you and your baby. And there are a lot of people that come on here and ask ppl's opinion of a place to get stuff started about that place and employees.

I delivered both of my sons there. The oldest is now 6 and my youngest 3. I had an overall pleasant experience. If I were to have another, I'd go back without a question. Tonya Graves was our nurse, she also taught my child birthing class and we loved her dearly! I was young with my first and she always treated my husband and I with the utmost respect, not everyone did. Of course there was the ocassional nurse with a crappy attitude but after what some of them put up with, who can really blame them?

Lakeway is the place to go. The L&D has been totally renovated. The nurses there are wonderful. They are very caring for the mother, the baby & the entire family.

I have delivered two children at mhhs! My first child was a stillborn and they were very honest with me about all of my questions and they even let me hold her!!! They gave me a lot of comfort and i couldnt ask for a better nurseS!! My first nurse were also Tonya and Rita They were God sent for me that day!! They prayed with me and helped me through a lot!!

When i went in to have my second child i was considered high risk since i had a stillborn (so im sure i did have a little more attention than a normal person giving birth) but it was a great experience for me!! Every question i asked morning or night it was answered. My child stayed with me most of the time but thats what i wanted but they would still come in and check on him every hour to make sure everything was going good!!! They day i was released a nurse came by and wanted to know what they could do to make improvements and i can honestly say i had no complaints to give her.

With both my kids i was young but married and i was still treated with the utmost respect that i thought i should have gotten!!!! I did take a tour of both hospitals but i liked mhhs!! Goodluck with ur decision and remember that these aRE OPINIONS

Is it any better now? I haven't heard anything good about MHHS/Covenant's new L&D. Did any local contractors get to work on it? How many local services where used to build it? Any local supplies used in the construction? How has this helped our local economy?
