If anyone hasn't been watching as of late then shame on you for not paying attention. Sure the talent may not be as good however we actually have a program going on. Coach Glover knows baseball and many that parents that have talked to those who have came across Coaches past will tell you the same. He does nothing but with the up most class and is trying to build a long term good baseball program where all know the East name. This hopefully will get the program back to where it used to be back in the Coach Price days. I have heard many say well Coach want stay, he will be like all the rest. Guess what folks, if we don't support our kids and the new Coaches program do you expect him to stay long term. He already has enough trouble with the Boosters starting off in the hole this year, in which JD and the other officers and parents have gotten under control. Coach faces the whole under budget issue and has been battling the City and Parks and Rec. he also has to battle many parents who are only worried about their kid and not a long term class a program. Guess what, Coach has got more support from the school than anyone has in a long time. The city actually gave the Baseball program some land close to Sherwood to build the boys batting cages. Coach and others have worked on the field and its starting to look better than it has in years. There is excitement among the players. Sit back and give the man a chance. He's a great guy, maybe not the most organized and about passing along information but a great guy who knows baseball and has all those kids best interests in mind. Give him a chance and come out a but a hotdog this summer from the concessions and cheer the team on. Go Canes and to Coach Glover to a long term great program beginning to take shape.

Wow someone either cannot read and understand grammar or just stupid? I read your quote twice trying to understand what the heck you are talking about? I have read from what your quote was referring from and see nothing mentioned negitive about coach Glover, as I read and agree with previous person Glover appears to have coaching ability it's not that it's the fact as he stated he does not have aNything to work with, meaning players daaaa Hope he can get a win or two from this years team, they have skills defensively but CAN NOT HIT, that is a fact. I hope he can eventually turn the program back to where it once was, sorry you cannot comprehend but I got it and I agree!

East High leadership failed the students, it's all about the budget. Maybe they got a winner in Glover and I hope so and I give him a fair chance as I said just don't count this season. What I say is they do not have a very good track record with all the other losers. Good luck coach Glover

I agree coaching alwayshas been a issue at east for last several years Gary Johnson has no clue who to hire or what to look for.
I feel he might have did good with Glover though at least my son likes him. Gillies played the boys out of position and screwed up so many games wth his lack of knowledge of the game and he didn't have any help. Wills is just a yes man looking for a paycheck, knows the game but will not speak up. We will be alright this year and will have som fun. These seniors are deserving of some fun.

Glover is the best coach around. 8 minute mile is not fast. And it's a 6 min 30 second mile. I think coach knows what he's doing

So, making a teenager run a mile in 6 1/2 minutes equates to being the best coach around and knowing what he's doing. Wow, and all this time I thought a good coach was one that taught the game, respected his players, improved the team, and had winning seasons (like we had with Coach Price). You must be a freshman or a sophomore. Nothing against the coach, but let's judge his coaching as the season goes along. It's good that the players "like" him, but it doesn't necessarily mean he is a good coach. As a former Cane, I hope they have a good season and I hope the program gets turned around!

Your are right about the attributes that make a good coach. So far from what I see Coach Glover has these and more. Sure he could work on things such as communication with parents, and information flow but he knows the games and treats the boys fair and consistent. I believe you will see great things to come from the East Program. I agree with Chance the team needs all the support they can get. In addition, I also agree with Old Hand the East High School School Leaders and past AD's have let the baseball program down. This also includes the school board administration and City / County officials. East High Boys and Girls deserve their own field and facility that they can have pride in and be able to show school spirit. Sure painting a dugout black n orange doesn't make you win but it does help the pride of the team and the supporters. In what was said earlier the team has to learn how to hit. This has been lacking for years. If u don't have depth on pitching, and can't play defense u better score lots of runs and learn how to play small ball and hit and run. I believe you will see this from Coach Glover. It would be great if the boys had an indoor facility and a place to keep their stuff but the poor school leadership has never allowed this. All they have is the old small whit building which is better than nothing. Guess what Gary Johnson continues to push coach to get it gone because it makes the school look bad. Really, well hd Inge poor coaches for several years makes the school look bad. Go Canes and continuous success to Coach Glover.

I have been involved with this group of seniors for years, they are seriously lacking in hitting skills as so many have mentioned, hate to agree but if you cannot get on base you cannot score and if you can't score you cannot win. All you can do is pray that teams you play have poor pitching and accumulate lots of walks.
Sorry to sound negative but I have watched and coached these boys and they may have two capable of hitting over 200. Long year it will be!

These poor boys of 2013 won't hit 175 as a team, bet you $1,000 dollars
Laughable to say the least.
You don't know anything. Come watch a practice. We hit every day in practice. And ill bet we hit over 300 at least.

Bottom line is no really knows the truth, truly they don't. Will they win, will they hit, can we play defense, do we have pitching, etc! We will not know till the seasons over. I will say one thing for certain. If all will get on board and support Coach and the boys this team will succeed, and the program will grow and be better in the future. We will also grow and be able to hit better if the school will get off their butt and do something. Sure Ms. Watkins has helped more than many in the past but we have a lot of catching up to do. We need more facilities that's the bottom line. Also if a few parents would quit worrying about just their own and why the kids are not taking a trip, and why Coach don't like the uniforms, etc. our program would grow a lot quicker. Go canes!!!

I hope the best for the 2013 Hurricane Team. I hope this team ends with a winning record and getting rid of Gillies already makes this year better. I sure hope these boys have learned to hit, hitting in practice I agree does help but live kid game pitching that is what makes or breaks, if my memory serves me correct in listening to Mike Rypel and what I did see on a few games I came and watched only one boy In this senior class hit 300 last year barely, and he was in a slump in the last 3/4 fop the season last year and the rest were ALL under 200, I sure hope this new coach is that good!

People like you should give their kids up for adoption. I know enough about the game to know that neither of the kids on either team are good enough to play at Walters State. WSCC could beat UT and Glover was ran out.

Two senior pitchers could go to Walter State. Don't think you know the game enough
