I wish mama and daddy didn't have to get old. It aint right damn it. Any day they could be gone and I don't know how I'll survive in this world without their love.
Family is all we got people, it is more precious than anything. Do not take it for granted.

Why are people so quick to put mom or dad in a nursing home in the first place?

Many go there for rehab to get stronger So they can go home. Some are better off at a nursing home, you might not know this but every child is not dependable enough to provide care and some work to pay bills because they are not taking govt handouts.

I will state that I am a former lifecare employee. I have nothing bad to say about the staff that provided direct resident care. most of them took very good care of the residents, although there will always be a certain few that slack. My problem while I worked there was the Don, Adon and Ed. They were always causing drama with the employees. They would tell you what a "wonderful" job you were doing to your face and as soon as you turn around..BOOM, a different story! I think the upper level management at lifecare is the problem. They should really focus on how to do their jobs better and be more efficient leaders than focusing on who they can gang up in one of their offices and talk about all day long!!!!! I wish corporate office only knew that they were paying all three of these "nurses" (yep thats what they call themselves) for ganging up in an office and talking about an employee, a resident (or a residents family member), or even a corporate official. those three are totally loosers! They may have a degree, but they dont live up to it

Alot of times the patients lay for hours before a staff member comes to see about them. My sister in law was there two years ago, I went by every week to check on her and take her cleans clothes, jello, and cokes. Something happened to her, do not know what, the staff said, she had a reaction to her medication, what is funny to me she took the same medication for years until she was placed in the care of LifeCare Nursing Home. I wish that our family members had stepped forward before this, maybe she would still be alive.

As a cna and having worked in many places including nursing homes and hospitals if you think you can do a better job then go get your license and go to work doing it. It is not a well paying job and you have many struggles. Truly sometimes a patient doesn't get the attention they need. But when you are taking care of many many sick and elderly people you wouldn't have the time either! Yes there are some people that doesn't care to much for their job because of situations. Many of those patients are there because they are simply not wanted. I have been puked on, pooped on, spit at, scratched, had body fluids throwed on me but yet I went in and done my job because those patients needed me. If you see need for improvement then I suggest you do some volunteer work at these nursing homes and help everyone out. Further more go there and get you a full time job and in one week get back on here and tell us you loved every minute and second of your job. I do my job because I enjoy helping people. It is not the best job in the world that's for sure but when these patients are throwed in these facilities and left there for you to provide every aspect of their care you do develop bonds with them. You form your opinion from one visit. Yes sometimes bad things happen and I do not stand for that. If I see you mistreating anyone then it's on. But take my suggestion and go there and get you a job and see for yourself what kind of place it is.

I had my mother taken there after her stroke. And boy do I have some info for you! First off I found it odd how they want you to sign in and out with a time, but there's no clock anywhere! What kind of business doesn't have a clock? My mother was first in what they call the new wing. Horrible, rude nurses and cnas although there was maybe a handful of people whom actually did their job and enjoyed it. The O/T and P/T is great! But that's the only part that is. My mother was left on bedpans so much as to she had got sores. My mother told me she had fell the day before one day I was there visiting, I went to ask why I wasn't notified. The nurse said she didn't know anything about a fall, I knew my mother wasn't lying she had knots on her head and described in detail what had happened. So I went further and spoke with the all mighty director of nursing who always says "we'll take care of it" as a normal response to anything you bring to her attention in which she never addresses anything, she tells you what she thinks you want to hear. She had told me since there was no report the fall didn't happen. Then the same nurse I asked about it stops me before I leave and said "oh it was in my notes from yesterday she did fall, but she's ok". So after being lied to my face and nothing being done, I never stopped complaining about the staff and had little meetings with all the big shots @ least once a week. About my mom not getting showers, left on bedpans, ect. There is a lady there in which I don't want to mention this poor residents name, but I walked past her twice in the hallways and she had s**t on her hands and yes she does grab people and the staff just leave her out there doing that! The nurses will lie to you with every word out of their mouth. They are all friends and like to cover up for each other. They eventually got tired of my complaints and said my mother had reached her potential and wanted to discuss discharge. I told them I completely disagreed and had her transfered to the jefferson city health and rehab right next to the elementary school. ThIS is the place you will feel comfortable leaving a loved one! Wonderful staff, great environment, much better care, just better all the way around. My mother could do so much more after she had got to jefferson city and did nothing but improve while there. And ANY mishap or incident I was notified right away! I also have a friend who is being cared for there right now, I'm just speaking from my own experiences. But I can mention I saw at least 10 of life cares cnas or nurses that had switched jobs to this place because they were being treated badly as well and couldn't take it any longer. Do your research please, investigate these places as much as possible before making a decision. And stay on the staff to always know what is going on, stay involved as much as possible is my advice. Good luck.
Shame on YOU for leaving her in such a place,if the care was so bad,why wait untill they decide its time for her to leave...just saying...lol

I have been in the medical field for years. My question is why would your mother hug a patient if she was an employee. Maybe she should have been better trained on employee conduct.
My question is, what kind of provider are you if you find hugging a patient, especially an elderly one, against employee conduct. That is part of caring and nurturing of a patient. Hope you are never my provider or anyone I know because you suck as a provider.

Who are you to decide when or if someone needs a hug... Lots of time the employees become just as much as family as the family themselves and sometimes employees are the only family they know.... As a CNA you bet I give hugs! You can feel the love coming through when they hug you back!
