<quoted text> I am so proud of you for standing up and speaking what was on a lot of our minds! I was so disgusted with the companys ludicrous offer to new hires I thought it best to hold my tongue, now I wish I had been as brave as you. I appreciate all our union brothers a sisters who stood with us today. I believe the company offered them a good contract but they chose to stand for what is right. They know the meaning of UNION. Thank you all so much. Together we stand, divided we fall.
Thank you I got alot more upset than I wanted to and I apologize for that but the older hands aren't the only ones who need money we do to. We have families and bills.

Thanks to all the old hands who support us new hires. We will stand with you and fight for your rights as well. Thanks so much. Just trying to make an honest living here. Why should all of us suffer so the executives can have a bigger bank account. They should be ashamed for taking food out of peoples mouths and cloths off their backs, guess they think if we lose our homes we won't have anywhere to put food or cloths.
Yea i agree thanks to all the older hands that are trying to make it fair. I've been told by MANY of you how you feel and it makes me feel good that I do work with some of you and I consider many of you friends. Some not tho lol....think you know who....lol.

They said after 60 days I would be eligible to bid on higher paying jobs. Union members do what is right for all and stick together on this. Us newbees agree you should get back what you gave up but new hires shouldn't be punished just so executives can put more in their pockets. Woul anyone like to see their children working there for that little doing the same work and them trying to raise your grandchildren on a ridiculous wage. Will vote no til all is fair to everyone. Rewards for years of service is vacation not pay.
Ya thats probably not the last time you will get lied to!Welcome to the Lear way!!Personally I'd love to see a few from the front office out on the floor working!!

I'm embarrased on most of what I have read here you are a branch of my UAW brothers and sisters?
You All need to stop lashing at eachother and pull as one. Don't feed off of this thread, it's doing you no good after you read this you will understand me.I retired from Detroit to east Tn last year. I came straight from High School to the factory in 1966 and left jefferson north assembly plant. We met at our UAW Local 7 hall across the street from the plant and stopped problems like this.
Seems you ALL have no idea what its like to work for a real union shop as I did for 45 years.(yes 45 i'm retired and earned every minute of it!) your newer union workers (notice I don't call them New Hires?they still pay union dues — you deserve equal representation.) All our Union UAW members should vote ‘no’ on any contract with a tiered wage structure. We all knew about your company "Lear" and UAW Detroit was not pleased on how they treated all of you because we would get your parts from your work. We are all a team reguardless what state you live in! The full intention of a tiered wage structure is to break unions big or small and save the companies millions.
Mark Harris and Frank Hines (UAW workers from your own lear up north) are in this article.

All of you, please! Please!please! Please! copy and paste the address and share it with the entire union body. Take the time to read this! You all need too!And stop stabbing at eachother on here! The company officials and non Union Supervisors can read this also and i'm sure they love it! Please stop the madness for the sake of your fellow workers across the country (you are making us all look weak) and pull as one when you go back to the table. And yes in my opinion someone from your Union needs to get the media involved ASAP like we did! And if a strike vote is necessary then follow it as one! You can and will get support not just from international for unfair labor/wages but the majority of UAW members across the country if your officials and you take the time to contact them! Workers took stacks of educational leaflets and “no on tiers” stickers to build the campaign in the plants to reject any contract without pay equity in Detriot. And it hit the media like a storm plus it being election time this may go bigger than you think! I am Union Proud and faught for my family when my kids were young and my Union brothers and sisters kids when mine went off to college just think you should be too. Every member is entitled to make a decent equal wage.
My union shirts"local 7 UAW" still hang in my closet and I would come down and support not some of you, but all of you!

After more than two dozen workers from 16 different UAW locals gave testimony on the hardships and divisions created by lower-tier wages to the Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press, the suburban Oakland Press and even the Wall Street Journal. the company was pressured and put into the spotlight by the media and union negotiators made getting ‘equal pay for equal work’ a top priority. Hang in there hopefully someone in your union will take charge of this economic terrorism and do the right thing.

Tired of working here to much crap, Controversy and drama all the time. I am looking for a real man to pick me up and take me away I would make him one happy fellow and he would go to work every day with a smile from ear to ear. I could just get me part time job and be there for my man at his every beckoning call as long as he don't abuse it and I will make certain all his desires are fulfilled. Any suggestions?

Please don't ruin it for everyone, you guys know how they fell about unions now since Wisconsin. Please tread lightly my mom works there and can't afford to lose her job, just keep in mind not everyone who works there is protected by the union even though they should and they depend on that job and would suffer greatly if they were to be laid off or replaced with temps that never make above minimum wage.
fyi my mother is in the union but lots aren't and don't have the union protection/support.

Watch! All people old and new! Get together. I would hate to see all of you fail because the Corporate Offices planned this. This was in the works before ANY contract. Your motto should be.........."We're Not Gonna Take It"!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you "Cosmos" This is a great.

We have to stand our ground. It would be very difficult to raise children and provide all their needs on what we were offered. And when I say we I mean we as a whole UAW Local 1617. They would never get anyone to work there for min wage. And if they did I'd say more power to em and good luck. I understand how you feel though and we are all upset at this point because just like your mother our union sister we are all in the same boat. But we have to stand together United no matter what...in the end God is always in control and will provide all our needs. Hope they come back with a better offer.

Glad you posted that! Many thanks also to the ret UAW. Thank you so much bro! Your post should encourage all of the "union workers" Unfortunately, I hear everyday...You knew what you were going to make when you came here! We were here first. You are all just lower class people cause you only make 10$. People, get real! Everyone is in the same boat believe it or not. The company actually welcomes the new union workers much better than the high and mighty people who work in that plant beside us and look at us like a red-haired stepchild. Wake up! THE company wants to divide the people, therefore the UNION! When is everyone going to realize that? Both tiers, quit thinking about yourself and think of everyone. Or is that too much to ask? Sad thing about this tentative contract, most of our union stewards voted it in. I guess they will cross the picket line next. SAD, SAD SAD! Guess what? If people start getting out of the Local 1617, EVERYONE will be making 10$ Think about it!

Key words there in your statement "they want to" but they haven't. 90% no. This shows we are standing up for everyone's rights and we have to stand with each other as well as our union stewards and leaders. They have a very difficult task and I know they will represent all of us to the best of their ability. Talk to B.B. he wants to know remember he will be in negotiations with the company. I did and he wrote it down. No-one needs to give them a hard time. I told him what I was told when hired.
